Grade HResponsible for supporting the delivery of technical and/or commercial support services, using sound technical expertise to assist in developing recommended practices, troubleshoot problems and identify improvement opportunities, whilst ensuring processes and procedures align with internal and external requirements.Purpose of role:
The Industrial Technical Support and Services Manager leads and manages a team of 5-10 technologists to provide technical product and application knowledge to Technology Deployment colleagues, customers and CLTs (Country Leadership Teams) in order to efficiently support Manufacturing and Maintenance Fluids (MMF). This team provides technical expertise, application support and testing services to support business growth and provide support to customers.
•Lead the team to operate facilities in a safe and responsible manner and ensure compliance and integrity of local data.
•Priorities workload and manage resources available to maximize value for the business.
•Conduct non routine analysis and testing to troubleshoot customer issues, explore compatibility and prove performance.
•Write and issue technical reports, and develop new analytical/testing methods as required to support products.
•Provide product/application advice to sales/customers and support CLT Technologist tags with product recommendations for existing business and new business opportunities including support for OEM teams and OEM product approval renewals.
•Provide product and application training to internal technical teams.
•Facilitate deployment of new products: support, monitor and feedback to global teams on experimental oil trials; support CLT Technologist tags to ensure that claims are relevant, valid and substantiated for local law and in line with Product Development and Marketing guidance; support CLT Technologist tags with delivery of technical presentations for new products; support sales technical teams to implement products.
•Ensure customer support for quality incidents working with global technical support, technology deployment and product development teams.
•Depending on local agreement with the CLTs, manage the technical relationships and services with 3rdparties to enable routine used oil analysis service for customers, manage/maintain the laboratory information system that supports the service and provide technical commentary on the analysis.
•Lead capability development and technical excellence within the team. Champion capability development, knowledge sharing, best practice transfer across all the Technology Deployment Hubs and wider technical network.
Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Engineering or related technical discipline
•Strong project management experience
•Proven broad experience of lubricant development and technology commercialization and deployment
•Broad knowledge of BP's products (as applicable to the role) their composition, manufacture and application
•Demonstrated a collaborative approach to working and networking with subject matter experts
•Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience of working across teams
