Summary of Role:

  • This is a key position within the organisation with the incumbent acting as the company's Senior Marine Advisor.


  • To play a leading role in the delivery of the Company's work programme, inclusive of preparing and making presentations to the Senior Management.


  • To travel nationally and Internationally as required
  • To act as the company representative at Marine meetings and events both in the UK and overseas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare new Marine Technical Guidelines notes.
  • To act as the Technical Adviser for offshore Lifting Operations
  • To maintain updated knowledge of dynamic positioning systems and power plants
  • Consult and engage with third-party organisations (regulators, trade and technical associations. professional bodies, clients and others).
  • Prepare technical briefings for the senior management.
  • Prepare and delivery of technical programmes for the Company's seminars.
  • Provide support on technical enquiries
  • Review and revise existing Company technical guidance documents.
  • Support Company work at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
  • Support the organisations health, safety, security and quality policies and procedures



Required Qualification, Skills & Experience


  • STCW Class I: Chief Engineer 111/2 Certification (preferred)
  • Has sailed as Chief Engineer on offshore Diving Support Vessels
  • 15 years plus relevant offshore industry experience
  • Good knowledge of dynamic positioning systems and vessel power plants
  • Has undertaken vessel inspections using the eCMID vessel inspection template.



  • Good technical knowledge of propulsion systems, as utilised by complex offshore vessels.
  • Widespread and relevant experience and knowledge of offshore lifting operations.
  • Good knowledge of offshore vessel legislation regarding IMO mandatory instruments.
  • Broad experience of shipping and international offshore construction (technology, operations, project and companies)
  • Good knowledge of offshore lifting operations

Employment Terms

  • Appointee will be invited to join the staff permanent pensionable payroll.
  • Based London Office - Monday to Friday with UK and international travel.
