Baker Hughes Digital is looking for a Staff System Administration Engineer to be part of cloud operations team. The role would help to improve our processes, workflows and product offerings. The person would help in developing, deploying & debugging cloud application. The role requires skills in API usage, command line interface and SDKs for writing applications. Knowledge of key features of Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), understanding of application lifecycle management, ability to use continuous integration and distribution pipelines to deploy applications and ability to code to implement essential security measures to safe-guard the applications and the parameter.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role Staff Systems Administration Engineer (Cloud Operations), you will:
  • Design and deploy dynamically scalable, available, fault-tolerant, and reliable applications on the Cloud
  • Select appropriate Cloud services to design and deploy an application based on given requirements
  • Migrate complex, multi-tier applications on Cloud Platforms
  • Design and deploy enterprise-wide scalable operations on Cloud Platforms
  • Be an expertise in at least one high-level programming language like Python or other scripting languages
  • Possess skills for developing, deploying & debugging cloud applications
  • Possess kills in API usage, command line interface and SDKs for writing applications
  • Be knowledgeable of key features of Cloud Service Providers
  • Understand of application lifecycle management
  • Be able to use continuous integration and distribution pipelines to deploy applications.
  • Be able to code to implement essential security measures
  • Possess skills in writing, correcting and debugging code modules
  • Code writing skills for serverless applications
  • Understand in the use of containers in development processes
  • Relevant experience as a systems administrator in a systems operations role
  • Have experience in monitoring and auditing systems.
  • Be knowledgeable of networking concepts (e.g., VPC, DNS, TCP / IP, and firewalls)
  • Be able to translate architectural requirements
  • Knowhow to implement and control the flow of data, to and from a service provider
  • Be capable to select the appropriate services based on compute, data, or security requirements
  • Be able to estimate usage costs and identify operational cost control mechanisms
  • Be capable to migrate on-premises workload to service providers

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in full-time cloud operations in oil & gas with at least 2 of the providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Travel 5% of the time, as required

Desired Characteristics:
  • Masters' Degree in Computer Engineering or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Certification from the above cloud providers
  • Ability to juggle different projects/priorities and deliver high quality outcomes under pressure
  • Ability to balance structure and flexibility, with a fearlessness to challenge the status quo
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively align and influence the organization around common goals and objectives
  • Strong executive presence and experience dealing with senior business leaders, including presenting to executive leadership
  • Excellent fact-gathering and analytical skills, including business process mapping and quantitative analysis
  • Ability to create and manage project plans and large working teams
  • Familiarity with all phases of business development processes
  • Ability to work well under pressure and follow through on items to completion while maintaining a professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated success working both independently and in a collaborative environment delivering results.
  • Extremely proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
