Role Summary:

Baker Hughes has an opening for an Engineering Technologist in Oklahoma City, OK. The role will be focused on conducting routine laboratory testing geared towards examining and verifying the integrity and quality of the manufacturing processes and final products. Also, it expands to test the quality and integrity of incoming raw materials as well as carrying out methodical root cause failure analysis.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for assisting engineers in routine analysis involving material testing of elastomer, thermosets and metals
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance
  • May receive specifications and guidance from team leader or senior level engineers
  • Maintain the cleanliness of work area and ensure equipment is clean.
  • Handles special projects as assigned
  • Read and understand specific test standard operating procedures and protocols
  • Familiarize yourself with SDS for laboratory
  • Practice safe laboratory practices and ensure laboratory safety at all times
  • Ensure that sufficient supplies are on hand to complete testing safely and without delays
  • Place orders as needed up keeping the laboratory demands
  • Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of BH
  • Perform other duties, projects and activities as assigned by supervisor or manager within the physical constraints of the job.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • 1 years of related experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite
  • Lab experience
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Technical writing skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to carry out intermediate level math calculations and formulations
  • Must be able to work closely with fellow employees as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Must be self-driven
  • Goal oriented, takes initiative


Desired Characteristics:

  • Associates degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, Physics or other related field.
  • 3 year experience in related field
  • Experience testing polymers and/or metals
  • Knowledge of polymers and materials
  • Instrumental analysis experience
  • Analytical chemistry experience
  • Manufacturing process knowledge and /or experience, specifically with extrusion and/or injection molding
  • Ability to elaborate and execute a methodical test plan
  • Able to conduct statistical analyses
