Position Description:

The Geological Operations Department is actively seeking a Petrographer.

As the successful candidate' you will assess the reservoir quality of exploration wells via core descriptions and petrography analysis, be well versed in microscopic and megascopic examination of rocks and mineral texture (clastics and carbonates), and igneous and metamorphic rocks.

You will apply petrographic understanding to depositional and sequence stratigraphic models, and support the reservoir characterization process to assess the effect on reservoir performance.

Minimum Requirements:
As the successful candidate' you will have a Bachelors' degree in Geology, or Geophysics, preferably' you will have a Masters or PHD.

You will have a minimum of 15 years' experience in oil and gas.

Good understanding of associated subsurface disciplines such as, stratigraphy, sedimentology, biostratigraphy, chemiostratigraphy, petrophysics, structural geology, and reservoir geology.

Competent in using geological software - Petrel, Geolog, OpenWorks, and DSS.

Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to:

Conduct geological, petrological, and petrographic analysis on different types of rocks and minerals.

Perform detailed thin section description for reservoir diagenetic history and reservoir quality interpretations.

Analyze diverse datasets to upgrade stratigraphic interpretations, and assist the petro-physicist in calibrating rock attributes to petro-physical properties.

Provide data analysis of well data in terms of facies, sedimentary architecture, isopach, and depositional environments.
