Mauritania and Senegal has recently become a new Upstream Region. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in an emerging world-class hydrocarbon basin in a development that is not only a significant event for BP but also the two countries involved. BP has signed agreements to develop significant gas resources in West Africa. The agreements involve BP assuming operatorship of a very large licence position in the countries of Mauritania and Senegal. Under the terms of the agreements BP will operate all appraisal and development activities in the licences, which hold world-class deepwater gas discoveries and exploration prospectively.
The licences include the Tortue field estimated to contain up to 15 Tcf of discovered gas resource. The multi-year exploration activities and development project at Tortue represent an exciting and strategically significant investment opportunity for BP. The first phase of the development consists of 12 subsea wells in 2800m water depth tied back to a gas processing FPSO positioned between the field and a nearshore hub/terminal hosting a leased floating LNG (FLNG) vessel and LNG export terminal facilities. This will be closely followed by a significant expansion of the subsea production system and topsides facilities leading to a considerable increase in the LNG export capability.
The Instrument Maintenance Technician will be responsible initially for providing operations input and support into the detailed design, construction, commissioning & start-up of the integrated project facilities, then supporting and delivering the safe operation of processes and systems in line with high HSSE standards, whilst developing technical and analytical capabilities during steady state operations. This role will require the successful candidate to work on the Commissioning phase of the project in the build yard in China, before moving to the core crew in the Operate phase in Mauritania/Senegal waters.Key Accountabilities (In the Execute Phase of the Project
Demonstrate HSE leadership within any team they are involved.
Maintaining and promoting a high safety culture when working in the construction phase
Develop and maintain discipline competence through CMAS and MT&L
Support execution of CoW process through commissioning, HUC and start-up phases as PA/IA
Provide review of procedures and participate in Project Commissioning/Start-Up as part of Operations Team or Commissioning Team as required. This includes assistance during the development and testing of commissioning procedures and support with testing, punch listing and handing over equipment
Support completions MC1 and handover process and take responsibility for systems handed over to Operations
Participate in the development of Preventive Maintenance Routines and procedure development as well as input to spare part and tools identification
Provide Operations input to discipline specific technical design, including General Arrangements, Layouts, Plot Plans from an operability/maintainability and human factors perspective
Execute maintenance and preservation routines for equipment handed over to operations
Attend and actively participate in LOPA's and HAZOPs
Provide operations support in document reviews
Key Accountabilities (In Operate)
To deliver safe, reliable maintenance aligned with BP's Values and to participate in safety programs.
Following and full compliance with all safety, environmental and regulatory rules applicable and Control of Work requirements.
Identifying and knowing the tools, materials, and procedures prior to the execution of work.
Supporting maintenance planning.
As the maintenance work Performing Authority to conduct a walk-down of the proposed equipment isolations prior to any work commencing.
Efficient execution of work and continuously improve execution performance.
Identifying all risks associated with any assigned work prior to execution of the work and for the safe and efficient execution of the work.
Recording of pertinent work order information to support a culture of reliability and continuous improvement (failure reporting, work method improvements, work activity duration, request for master data changes, lessons learned, etc.)
Close-out / completion of the work in compliance with the Control of Work Standards, including the clean-up of work sites and the returning of unused materials to the storeroom.
To communicate job progress to the MTL to ensure productivity and maximize wrench time when there is inefficient planning or a break in the schedule.
For delivering safe, quality and reliable maintenance in alignment with BP values.
Essential Experience and Job Requirements
Maintenance experience in the oil and gas industry.
Experience in using a computerised maintenance management system.
Knowledge of permit to work, operations integrity, planning and risk assessments.
Experience in performance improvement programmes.
Experience in working with vendors and performance feedback.
Demonstrated ability troubleshooting within discipline
Willingness to work at heights or in confined areas
Ability to work in plant locations that may be remote (on/offshore) or require special transportation requirements (e.g. helicopter, marine vessels, rotational work, etc.).
Ability to successfully complete a fitness for duty assessment
