JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lab Technician I will assist analysts and support staff in many different areas. Duties may include setup of analysis testing equipment under the direction of the Chemists, cleaning of laboratory glassware, assisting sample receiving to organize and sort incoming samples. Candidates with lab experience may operate analytical instruments such as GC, IRMS, CRDS laser, and isotope prep systems. Preparation of sample tubes used for stable isotope prep systems may be required, as well as assistance with assembling sample collection bags, removing connectors and fittings from compressed gas cylinders, preparing completed samples for storage, and other duties as required. Adhere to company policy on Environmental policies and procedures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (not listed in any particular order)

Know and understand Weatherford's Enterprise Excellence Program and the Quality Policy and

comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures

and Workplace Instructions.

Assist lab and manufacturing departments in the assembly and testing of various types of sample

collection equipment that will be sold to customers or supplied to other Weatherford lab facilities.

Assist Sample Receiving department by opening boxes, sorting samples, and cleaning debris from

area.

Clean laboratory glassware.

Perform maintenance on IsoTube connectors, as directed by GC analysts.

Assist analysts in water lab as directed. Duties may include assembly of distillation glassware, and

other glassware systems.

Perform simple glass working by making glass tubes to be used by analysts.

May operate gas chromatograph systems to determine chemical makeup of natural gas samples.

May operate vacuum systems to prepare samples for isotopic analysis.

May operate dual inlet IRMS systems to measure d13C and dD isotope ratios.

May use CRDS laser system to generate dD and d18O isotope ratios of water.

Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.

Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical

constraints of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short

correspondence, and memos in English.

Ability to follow oral instructions.

Ability to work closely with fellow employees.

1-3 years' experience in testing environment

The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.
