The Hydraulic Fracturing Fluids Engineer provides industry leading expertise in the research, development and application of hydraulic fracturing fluids for a broad range of reservoir types across BP's global portfolio of unconventional reservoirs.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
These include the development and application of:
  • Develop and lead tight gas and shale reservoir fracturing fluid research, development and technical specialist support work
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to asset teams in fracturing fluid selection and optimization
  • Perform post-job fracturing fluid performance analysis and continuous fluid optimization
  • Identify new fluids/proppant technology and implement in field
  • Plan, initiate and review work performed by third party labs including shale-fluid interaction testing
  • Represent BP in external consortia, Joint Industry Projects, and industry forums & conferences
  • Lead joint BP-university research projects

BS in chemistry or engineering, with extensive industry experience will be considered

This candidate must have:
  • Extensive (15+ years minimum) experience with fracturing fluids development and applications. 10+ in laboratory fluid development and optimization including 5+ in shale fracturing
  • Extensive knowledge of fracturing fluid chemistry and application.
  • Strong ability to oversee work performed by external contract or service company laboratories
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong "customer service" oriented attitude

  • A PhD in chemistry or engineering is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in production chemistry and chemical remediation treatments
