My client in the North East are recruiting for an Instrument engineer on a contract basis.

Job description:

1.0 General

Organisational level; Reporting to the Lead E&I Engineer, in accordance with the Project Organogram.

2.0 Main Function

The E & I Engineer will be responsible for preparing and overseeing Instrumentation activities, philosophies and studies, contributing to technical bid evaluations and reviewing vendor documentation. They will review specifications, data sheets, requisitions and drawings.

They will also provide technical consultancy to clients on project related Instrumentation issues

3.0 Responsibility and Authority

" The position has the responsibility for instrument engineering input to the planning and execution of the projects and reports directly to the Lead E&I Engineer.
" The position has the responsibility for reporting progress within the instrument engineering areas of the projects in accordance with the project reporting requirements and the Project Organogram.
" The position has the signing authority in accordance with the Project Signature Matrix.

4.0 Work Duties

Typical work activities include:
" Provide instrumentation assistance to the Lead E&I Engineer.
" Provide technical direction, advice and control of the Instrument work.
" Engineer all design work in line with the QA manual, appropriate codes of practice and the Client's procedures.
" Provide expert 'know how' of Instrument engineering as input to conceptual and FEED engineering as well as detailed design.
" Liaise with client Instrument representatives to establish technical direction where not provided by codes and standards.
" Prepare cost, time and resource requirement estimates for nominated projects, proposals or changes in work scope.
" Provide advice and guidance on hazardous area installations including ATEX directives.
" Identify and verify any improvements and cost saving measures on the projects.
