Our Client is looking for a Pipeline Engineer for a longterm contract position, located in Aberdeen.


The pipeline team provide technical support and assurance services to the companies UK operating facilities. We are committed to providing cost effective solutions to maintain technical integrity and availability of around 3200kms of off and onshore pipelines in line with legislative and company requirements


Ensure Safe Production (ESP)

  • Deliver TA role per DAM, ACAL and TAM (if applicable)
  • Contribute and own Goal Zero activities within department 3-year Plan and Facility HSSE plans
  • Support Facility LOD2 audits
  • Conduct activity checks per LOD1 plan
  • Actively promote and use the Standard Workflows to "do the basics right first time"
  • Actively promote & use w-PIMS to achieve do less with less and flatten the integrity management cycle
  • Ensure Regulatory compliance specifically the Pipeline Safety Regulations, 1996
  • Support routine liaisons with statutory bodies, and other third parties
  • Comply with the Management of Change Process (e-MOC)
  • Know, comply, actively communicate requirements of PSIMM, Work Instructions, Specifications, Procedures on BMS.
  • Meet DEM 1 & DEM 2 requirements for the Operate phase
  • Ensure HSSE embedded in technical solutions
  • Complete all mandatory HSSE training
  • Participate and promote intervention initiatives

Maintenance Integrity Execution (MIE)

  • Ensure pipeline and subsea asset class system is maintained in accordance with maintenance strategies
  • Provide support at site for the installation, inspection, testing of new equipment
  • Manage the execution of discipline related ACAL deliverables & critical document updates
  • Responsible for pipeline inspection anomaly review and close out in Coabis and IBIS, w-PIMS
  • Responsible for updating RBA and RBI Plan, taking into account inspection findings
  • Support Pipeline Surveillance Engineer on generation and facilitation of SPAIR process
    Responsible for annual pipeline and subsea asset class integrity assessment and reporting
  • Responsible for maintaining pipeline data in w-PIMS, CPD, IBIS & SharePoint
  • Ensure facility documentation remains up to date and highlight any discrepancies to the BCD (pipeline TA2).
  • Manage Life extension and obsolescence requirements for pipeline and subsea asset class including sparing strategies
  • Ensure as-building of all modifications - including drawings, documents, COABIS, UMDB, CPD, SharePoint etc
  • Support pipeline surveillance engineer on fault finding activities and develop outline scope of work for any necessary repairs or modifications.  
  • Assist with investigations of all failures and effect remedial actions to ensure learnings are implemented
  • Actively contribute to SIGN, CoP, GPIT, w-PIMS TAG, PLUG, Trident, External conferences
  • Plan non-routine activity such as ILI, MAPS, flexible annulus monitoring, complex pigging, pipeline remediation

Integrated activity Planning (IAP)

  • Monitor the status of SAP pipeline activities to ensure prompt closure by the surveillance engineer of all WOs by LAFD.
  • Manage corrective maintenance in accordance with Standard Workflow, IAP guidelines, minimising break ins 
  • Support the surveillance engineer to ensure pipeline activities are included in MRP and budget in line with facility business plan
  • Support surveillance engineer to create PEF's and WRF's for all pipeline inspection and maintenance activities

Wells, Reservoir and Facilities Management (WRFM)

  • Comply with Operational Excellence guides specifically blades 12, 13, 17, 18, 24, 28 
  • Maintain/improve pipeline availability to 100%
  • Maintain Threats and Opportunities (MTO)
  • Identify and manage deviations using FSR
  • Identify and manage significant risks through the ORIP/TOPP process and database
  • Manage the SAP process for Corrective WO (Z1) and master data change (Z6)
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities

Turnarounds (TAR)

  • Follow principles of DCAF for modifications and projects
  • Check deliverables of pipeline / modification project hand-over as input to Statement of Fitness

Contract Management

  • Provide input to contract management reviews for key support contracts


Pipeline Surveillance Engineer, Facility Manager, Maintenance and Engineering Lead, Onshore Operations Lead, Topside Inspection, Subsea Inspection, Materials & Corrosion Engineer, Flow Assurance Engineer, Production Chemistry, Pipeline TA2, Subsea TA2, Subsea IRM team, Pipeline Subsea Inspection team, Subsea Projects, Pipeline and Subsea Technical Support Engineer

Key Performance Indicators:

Red and Orange Banded Pipelines, SC PM & CM compliance, Spend V Budget, MTO progress, Deviations, RADAR actions


  • Proficient oral & written communication skills
  • Batchelor of Engineering / Science degree or higher from a recognised university
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer
  • Previous experience in a role relevant to managing asset integrity and process safety including for pipelines
