Will ensure adherence to all international export laws and regulations as it relates to the importation and exportation of goods and technology. This position will be responsible for executing daily import / export operations in the Country regions, including trouble-shooting and root cause analysis for any issues impacting the efficient movement of goods across international borders.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Resolve daily inquiries regarding export shipments and inbound import "green-light" approval. Help to prepare export & import documentation when necessary.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and services locations to develop, train & deploy the origin logistics model - ensuring all export & import requirements are accurately documented before equipment process shifting
  • Work closely with manufacturing and service locations to assign country-of-origin designations for items so that Baker Hughes is compliant and can take advantage of preferential trade agreements when applicable. Create any required free trade agreement Certificates of Origin for international customers.
  • Support the region (internal locations & external suppliers) with establishing standard requirements for shipment documentation, both import & export. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data with customs brokers.
  • Work closely with the global product classification team as it relates to the request & receipt Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes, Schedule B codes, ECCN or other codes & schedules.
  • Ensure adequate document retention within the region to support compliance with government agencies and international trade regulations. When necessary, assist legal counsel, logistics and sales.
  • When necessary, file export declarations on behalf of Baker Hughes in the required systems.
  • Monitor and track critical shipments and resolve problems when necessary.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of export and import licenses in close coordination with Baker Hughes ITC regional and product company leaders.
  • Resolve transactional issues relating to the clearance of shipped goods by working daily with brokers and other related logistics providers.
  • Act as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, customers and vendor queries.
  • The candidate should have strong data skills (IT, Metrics, KPI driven) with customs brokerage operational experience (office) along with invoicing skills.


Education, Training & Preferences:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in international trade, international business, logistics or other related fields.
  • Membership in professional organizations, trade or user groups, and a pattern of regular attendance at industry conferences to enhance knowledge of trade compliance is preferred.


The following experiences are important for effective performance in this role (Minimum)

  • 5 years of experience working with logistics & trade compliance
  • 5 successful years working in a team-based global environment
  • 2 experience using PC-based trade compliance systems and trade content services
  • Experience working in the oil & gas industry

  • The candidate should have strong data skills (IT, Metrics, KPI driven) with customs brokerage operational experience (office) along with invoicing skills.
