Worley are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our Oil and Gas project delivery operation based in Westhill.

Your role will be delivery of maintenance technical support, planning and analysis to ensure optimisation of the maintenance effort, with emphasis on Mechanical discipline.


Key objective:

Ensuring that the total maintenance effort delivers its required objectives as efficiently, effectively and safely as possible without impacting on the integrity of the facilities.


Primary duties:

  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with the planned maintenance system, project KPIs and PMR reviews at agreed intervals
  • Champion continuous improvement in operations and maintenance performance along with a defect elimination culture to optimise discipline support
  • Checking and reporting on maintenance performance to ensure technical and timely delivery of all activity
  • In conjunction with Maintenance Superintendent / Lead Engineer support discipline technical competency of techs is met and maintained at correct level for all associated equipment and systems.
  • Taking accountability for maintenance planning/preparation of technical demanding tasks ensuring discipline support to full process
  • Ensuring compliance with performance standards and maintenance requirements
  • Managing maintenance support contracts and associated vendors. Liaise with other disciplines and ensure vendor support is efficiently applied
  • Perform routine checks on work undertaken by techs to ensure the required levels of quality are being met and within agreed budget forecasts
  • Input to equipment maintenance strategies to improve reliability of key equipment
  • Assist with the resolution of operational problems including participation in and close out of root cause failure analysis
  • Actively engage with the site execution teams ensuring participation in corporate behavioural safety and intervention schemes, work to enhance communication and promote understanding of goals
  • Provide recommendations for critical spares and optimise asset inventory
  • Use knowledge base to give guidance to other asset team members




  • Engineering degree in a relevant discipline plus proven track record of maintenance experience within the oil & gas industry OR : - proven record of time spent as assistant engineer, (or similar), with HNC in mechanical engineering and candidate can offer an auditable track record of consistently good performance in the role


  • BSc mechanical engineering plus comprehensive experience within the Oil & Gas industry in a similar role
  • First Step Course or similar
  • NVQ3 in Maintenance Engineering




  • Reasonable experience and knowledge of maintenance strategy development, tools and techniques
  • Ability to communicate with technical specialists and at all level in organisation
  • Knowledge of the following: criticality analysis, safe systems of work, risk assessment, performance standards and RCA methods
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of the maintenance/integrity aspects of O&G equipment, systems and associated legislation
  • Experience of maintenance strategy development, tools and techniques
  • Working knowledge of industry best maintenance practice
  • Reasonable experience and knowledge of CMMS structures functionality and processes
  • Previous involvement with the development and execution of maintenance management theories and techniques


  • Experience of database software
  • Knowledge of discipline / specialist software applications
