The Geophysical Imaging Department is actively seeking a top Near Surface Modeling Specialist to join its world-class team.
As the successful candidate you will have significant experience in building different near surface models to support reducing exploration risk, especially when mapping prospects.
You will have hands on experience that includes work on different modeling approaches such as refraction tomography, surface wave inversion as well as the ability to implement advanced technologies such as FWI to improve velocity models for the near surface modeling.
As the successful candidate, you will hold a bachelor's degree in geophysics or alternative disciplines including physics, geology or engineering.
You will have a minimum of 10 years' experience in building different near surface models.
Experience of working in different countries or regions is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:-
Work within a multidisciplinary team focusing on building different near surface models to support reducing exploration risk, especially when mapping prospects.
Implement new methods and technologies, applying seismic processing expertise that will link near surface models to processing.
Jointly invert different data sets (e.g. gravity, EM) with seismic data to solve the elope problem of tomography which will improve the confidence in velocity models.
Take responsibility for making effective decisions in land, transition zone, and marine processing.
Liaise directly with interpreters/clients, presenting work and making recommendations to improve near surface modeling.
Function in a leadership-based role, mentoring and training less experienced colleagues, and providing structured training as required.
