Position Description

Fervo Energy seeks to hire a Senior Drilling Engineer to oversee drilling engineering and operations for geothermal wells in the western United States. The senior drilling engineer will be responsible for design and operations of all Fervo Energy drilling activities, including vendor and contractor selection and management. The Senior Drilling Engineer will report to the Drilling and Completions Manager. The position is based in Houston, TX and requires frequent travel.

 

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for planning and design of all Fervo Energy geothermal wells

  • Select and manage service companies and rig contractors to successfully deliver wells on time and budget

  • Select and manage Fervo drilling field supervisors

  • Evaluate and prioritize new drilling technologies to improve performance and reduce well costs in geothermal wells

  • Develop Fervo standard drilling operating procedures with a focus on capturing best practices, implementing continuous improvement processes, and creating a culture with a focus on health, safety, and the environment

  • Support cross-functional field development optimization efforts through well planning and design optimization

 

Required and Preferred Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering

  • Required: 10+ years of experience in design and management of drilling operations

  • Required: Experienced user of standard well planning and design software

  • Required: Worked previously in geothermal and/or hard rock drilling

  • Required: Experience with well designs and operations in US unconventional fields

  • Preferred: Experience supervising onshore drilling operations

 

Location

Primary location will be Houston, TX, with frequent travel to visit field locations
