Well Engineering and Operations Specialist Inspector

Aberdeen

Closing date: 27 October 2019

Make an impact with your expertise and help us keep onshore and offshore workers safe. Take on dynamic projects, get specialist training and shape the UK's policy. With the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), you can.

At HSE, we work with one goal in mind - to help keep Britain's workforce safe. We are the independent regulator for work-related health and safety in Great Britain, and our work touches virtually every sector of UK industry. Combining experts from every field, we strive to keep people and their working environments as healthy and secure as possible.

The role offers a wide scope and draws on numerous skills and experiences. You'll work with a team of technical specialists to make sure onshore and offshore engineers can work safely. You'll make inspections, investigate accidents, prepare reports and provide specialist advice throughout the industry. On top of this, you'll make valuable contributions to industry-wide standards and guidance, helping to secure safe practice for years to come. There's also room for you to take on additional training to develop your expertise and knowledge even further.

Naturally, you'll need experience in well engineering, including planning and managing drilling operations at a senior level. Strong communication skills are also key, as you'll be expected to influence decisions at all levels of the organisations you'll regulate. Analysis and sound judgement based on evidence are important elements of the role too, and you should be able to easily collaborate with different teams. You should also have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or earth science discipline or equivalent experience in well engineering, both onshore and offshore. Chartered status with the Engineering Council and Corporate membership of an approved professional institution (or working towards both of these) are essential.

If you're a dedicated, driven and talented engineering expert, we'd love to have you on board. Find out more about the role or apply today.
