Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Computer Scientist will work at the Energy Innovation Center (EIC) in Oklahoma City as part of the Cyber-Physical Systems team - a dynamic, entrepreneurial and collaborative group of technologists with the ethos of a startup but the resources of a large corporation. In this research position, you will work alongside an interdisciplinary team truly passionate about applying cutting-edge technology to shape the future of the energy industry, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The Lead Computer Scientist will contribute expertise in machine learning and/or deep learning techniques to create new AI solutions for a variety of use cases including streamlining field operations, automating defect recognition during inspection, and improving product design. You will work at the forefront of the energy industry's digital transformation, with potential to create tremendous impact on our ability to provide energy of all forms for generations to come.

Essential Responsibilities

In the role of Lead Computer Scientist, you will:
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to design, develop and refine disruptive cyber-physical systems for the energy industry
  • Use state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning techniques for time series and image analytics
  • Employ software libraries, tools and practices to implement efficient and scalable AI solutions
  • Cleanse and manage datasets for model training, working with subject matter experts as needed for data labeling
  • Optimize machine learning algorithms for deployment on lightweight embedded/edge computing devices
  • Stay current with industry trends and identify technical innovations that can be leveraged to advance projects
  • Brainstorm with colleagues and meet with customers to discover new challenges and generate new ideas
  • Be responsible for other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in software development, research and development or machine learning

Desired Characteristics
  • Master's Degree or Ph.D in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, C/C++, C#, or JavaScript
  • Proficiency with deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch
  • Experience deploying models for inference on lightweight computing devices (e.g., Raspberry Pi 0) and accelerated edge computing devices (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson Nano/TX2/Xavier, Google TPU)
  • Experienced with Linux-based operating systems
  • Experience using deep learning frameworks to train computer vision models
  • Proven organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Experience working both independently and as part of a team within a cross-functional environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
