Role Summary/Purpose

The Field Engineer is a key part of the operations team responsible for design, planning, execution, and troubleshooting of Asset Condition Monitoring Systems focused on meeting customer and business goals. This position will be focused on machinery diagnostics needs of the business. Thus, placing a high emphasis on supporting client needs as they pertain to evaluating machinery condition based on rotordynamic analysis; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining protection system hardware; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining monitoring system hardware & software.

Essential Responsibilities

In the role of Field Engineer, you will:
  • Diagnose machinery problems based upon: vibration data, operational data, and customer communications
  • React to customer required travel in a timely manner, while bringing all required diagnostic equipment
  • Complete documentation of findings / recommendations
  • Engage in professional communications with customers and other team members
  • Determine and directing placement of Balance weights
  • Perform Asset Management / Reliability Service Studies
  • Prepare timely Work Order requests, quick quotes and invoicing packages
  • Assess job site Safety
  • Understand contractual obligations and subsequent terms and conditions
  • Install transducers and configuring monitoring systems
  • Complete alignment - Reverse Dial, Laser, Optical Methodologies

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Travel up to 80% of the time, as required
  • Work significant over-time
  • Possess a valid driver's license and passport (or able to obtain a passport)
  • Ability to obtain TWIC card
  • Read, interpret and understand mechanical prints

Desired Characteristics
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Obtained or working towards Professional Engineering License
  • Demonstrate authority and assurance in dealing with people
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
  • Ability to work under stressful working conditions
  • Project Management Skills
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office software
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills with a "Hands-on approach"
  • Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and controls systems
  • Knowledge of machinery protection and management systems
  • Knowledge of Bently Nevada products and services
  • Knowledge or experience with AT LEAST one or more of the following: mechanical vibration, rotating machinery vibration and/or diagnostics, rotor dynamic analysis, PdM data acquisition / evaluation, machinery balancing and alignment, and reliability services
