Job Summary
Responsible for facilitating BOP stack design with the OEM and interfaces in alignment with Company requirements and in conjunction with rig systems and handling equipment on a newbuild vessel.
Job Description

DUTIES :
Review and comment on equipment drawings from the well control equipment (WCE) OEM's and the shipyard
Assist in the development of handling system interfaces for the BOP to/from the setback area and with the riser between the storage area and rig floor
Participate and sometimes facilitate engineering and planning meeting with the OEM's and the shipyard
Assist in the development of testing and commissioning procedures for all WCE
Travels to project site to meet with subsea project team in the shipyard and assist with technical problems that arise in the installation or commissioning phase of the project
Routinely visits equipment shops and BOP stack pad to assess stack assembly progress and ensures the construction is per the agreed spec and within projected timelines
Participates in equipment FAT's and reviews submitted documentation from OEM's to confirm meets the Company's specification criteria
Coordinates with other subject matter experts (SME) in the Subsea Engineering group as needed for various aspects of the WCE system design
Coordinates the comments and revision notes on drawings with the shipyard, the OEM, and the Customer as needed
Assists with the final system integration testing during vessel acceptance
Provides startup and technical support as it relates to WCE for the vessel as it begins operations and brings the local Technical Support organization up to speed the vessel and its equipment

Customer Focus:
Handles clarification requests from the customer during the design and build process of the WCE for the vessel.

EDUCATION:
Engineering degree B.S. required or M.S. in Engineering equivalent preferred.
Extensive vendor specific equipment and systems training for the major subsea well control equipment suppliers required.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 10 years experience (15 years preferred) working with offshore drilling subsea well control equipment either in operations or projects.
BOP stack build experience required. (newbuild experience in addition is preferred)
Experience with latest generation subsea well control equipment across multiple OEM's is required (BHGE and NOV preferred)
Some offshore operations experience in a subsea role is preferred.

DECISION MAKING:
Evaluates and recommends for manager's approval all actions which have significant financial impact, operational or project execution consequences. Certain projects will be assigned to this individual to sponsor from conception to completion. The individual is expected to make decisions and recommendations after consultation and with routine supervision.

SKILLS:
Must possess relevant computer skills, including knowledge of specialized engineering software suites used in the department and by the shipyard for general work or problem solving (e.g. AutoCAD, document control systems, load monitoring, etc). A strong understanding of ABS, DNV, API, and related industry regulations and standards is required.
Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be capable of simultaneously managing multiple tasks and coordinating the efforts of others contributing to solutions to engineering problems. Must exhibit effective written and oral communication skills. The individual must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Should be a self-starter and able to take initiative as required.
Must possess strong technical writing skills for production of procedural and other technical documents.

Must be self-motivated and possess superior skills to independently identify and solve unusual problems associated with improved rig operational performance, construction characteristics and safety. Must have ability to ensure that all aspects of a problem are understood and effectively managed within the recommended solution. Must be able to perform with a sense of urgency, and the highest ethical standards without sacrificing accuracy and professional engineering practices. Must be willing to work extended hours during critical phases of the build cycle and travel as needed in support of the project.
