Role Summary/Purpose

The Buyer will be primarily working with the Customer Fulfillment team to identify urgent / critical customer orders, identify / recommend best suited suppliers, and drive overall performance improvement from major suppliers. The individual in this role also demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Other major responsibilities include achieve higher standards of On-Time delivery from suppliers, execution of cost savings projects, perform supplier capacity planning, and manage the supply chain for the lead time reduction for the Aftermarket Center of the Flow & Process Technology business. The Individual will establish a clear communication with suppliers and drive actions for timely fulfillment of supplier Purchase Orders (POs) aligned to customer requirements / Need-By date.

Essential Responsibilities

In the role of Buyer, you will:
  • Monitor & action aging Purchase Requisitions (PRs), create Purchase Orders (POs), update PO Promise Dates from suppliers, and manage PO schedule changes / react to ERP exception messages in a timely manner
  • Achieve best cost for material with outstanding quality and within customer Need-By date
  • Own Procurement / Fulfillment KPIs; On-time PO placement, On-time Delivery (OTD), Supplier Promise Date / PO Promise Date accuracy, Deflation, Adherence to Supplier Contracts / Pricing, and invoice resolution
  • Partner with the Supplier Quality & negotiate on Vendor Recovery associated with Liquidated Damages (LDs) due to delivery & quality issues
  • Hold bi-weekly / monthly rhythm with strategic suppliers for overall supplier performance & ensure best price & lead times are offered by suppliers
  • Partner with engineering & coordinate with suppliers on design change implementation
  • Develop knowledge of supplier manufacturing processes, material and commodity pricing and excellent focus on quality
  • Partner with Global Commodity Leaders (GCLs) & Site Commodity Leaders to implement cost out strategies and supplier workload management to support Aftermarket needs
  • Be a first line of contact & establish strategic relationship with suppliers

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

  • MBA or Master's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain related fields
  • Strong business & financial acumen; understanding of business operations & O&G industry
  • Program / Project management skills with horizontal teams
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; supervisory role experience
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, strong PC and database management skills
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines and frequently changing priorities
