Targa is currently seeking an Analyzer Technician based in Midkiff, TX. Successful candidate will be responsible for working on several types of analyzers as well as working with Measurement Technicians. This position is located in the West Texas, Midland-San Angelo-Odessa areas.


  • Installation, maintenance and calibration of on stream gas chromatographs (Emerson, AIC, Siemens, ABB)
  • Installation, maintenance and calibration of various utility analyzers including moisture, 02, H2S
  • Recognize malfunctions in individual equipment and perform maintenance as necessary to correct problems
  • Interface with SCADA, DCS, and analyzer host systems
  • Interpersonal skills required to interface with customers and team members
  • Monitor process variables and conditions to ascertain the current state of the operated process
  • Monitor and recognize dangerous and/or emergency conditions within the process and perform procedures necessary to remove the condition or shutdown the process in order to protect personnel, community, environment and equipment
  • Work with co-workers in the response to emergency situations requiring coordinating equipment shutdown, and/or evacuation
  • Operate and perform activities in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures
  • Write repair work request for routine and major maintenance that cannot be handled as part of normal operations using a work order system (Maximo)
  • Utilize proper Lockout/Tag out operating and safety procedures
  • Must be proficient in the use of PCs and PC software
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to prioritize work based on business needs

  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors; able to work in a self-directed work team
  • Must become proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office software modules, including Word and Excel
  • Must work with a minimum of supervision and be able to manage their time when given multiple tasks
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objectives

  • Minimum of 1-5 years’ work experience in a Natural Gas facility
  • Two years working with Chemical/Petroleum measurement
  • Being a self-starter, and ability to work with peers in collaborative efforts
  • Be able to work with internal and external customers verify product flows and volumes
  • Ability to learn areas of Analyzer Theory and operation
  • Experience with a computer based management system (SAP, Maximo)
  • Be able to diagnose, repair, and calibrate analyzers
  • Experience working in collaborative efforts, be a highly motivated self-starter
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and able to respond to call outs
  • Two year associates degree in instrumentation, measurement, analyzers or equivalent training
  • Five years' experience in the Petroleum Industry
  • Two years working with Petroleum measurement
  • Experience with analyzer instrument installations and calibrations
  • Ability to diagnose, repair, and calibrate on line analyzers

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 75 pounds
  • Ability to work in changing climate conditions and a plant environment
  • Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (e.g. eye protection, footwear, FRC)
