Job Title: Electrical Technician

Purpose of Position:

To build, install, maintain, and repair electrical diesel HPU's and control units. Ensuring at all times that work is in accordance with company policy and procedures.


Qualification and Skills required:

  • HND in Electrics or working towards related course
  • Compex EX01-04
  • Experience in building panels
  • Interest in Industrial Electrical Work
  • Experience in Auto Electrics
  • Excellent decision and solving problem
  • Good communicator
  • IT literate with Microsoft Package experience
  • Offshore Survival
  • Ability to use own initiative but works well in a team

Job Management

  • Responsible for delivering quality service, safely, on time, within budget whilst ensuring the technical integrity of onshore and offshore assets.
  • To carry our work as requested by Supervisor and/or Buddy
  • Ability to read and work from electrical circuits
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Be able to use own initiative, problem solve and work with minimum supervision
  • Undertake industrial electrical installations
  • Carry out auto electrical work
  • Carry out of PLC work if required
  • To effect all works according to PDI & FAT documentation and drawings
  • To advise appropriately where errors are found and give feedback to Supervisor in a timely manner
  • To liaise with Supervisor/Buddy ensuring department input delivered in timely manner to suit project requirements

Workshop Management

  • To locate raw materials as directed
  • To report any breakages or damages a time of occurrence
  • To report any shortages in material or tooling immediately
  • To monitor and maintain hand tooling and equipment
  • To locate and inspect all purchased components and manufactured components are available and correct
  • To assist in maintenance repairs and installation of electrical systems
  • To assist with repairs of electrical systems
  • To assist with the installation of new and refurbished electrical systems using a full range of installation materials and techniques.
  • To assist with routine checking and testing of all types of electrical systems, including the location and repair of faults


HSEQ Leadership

  • Demonstrate and encourage safety behaviours - leading by example
  • Stop the Job whenever an unsafe act is witnessed
  • Raise HSEQ reports as required
  • Liaise with Safety Representative as and when required
  • Raise OAR cards in a positive manner to encourage a safe environment for all
  • Assist in the effective delivery of HSEQ plan actions


Financial Performance

  • Ensure accurate sign off timesheets
  • Right first time - no re work
  • Effective management of materials and consumables
  • To follow the company procurement systems and procedures

Compliance of Management Systems

  • Follow processes and procedures, ensuring direct reports work to the same
  • Participate in review / initiatives

Technical Support

  • Assisting other departments with technical queries
  • Liaise with relevant departments when required
  • Provide technical expertise where required

People Management

  • Effectively manage all people matters in a fair and consistent manner, in line with the Company policies & procedures
  • Ensure the efficient use of department resources
  • Apply HR policies & procedures where necessary
  • Get advice from HR as and when required
