Fabrication Maintenance Mechanics read and understand basic isometric and equipment drawings, structural fit/weld, pipe fit/weld, boiler maker duties including isolation, inspection and repair of columns, drums, exchangers, furnaces, piping systems and structural support systems. Rigging and crane signaling for heavy lifting equipment, will operate stationary and mobile lifting equipment. Candidates will be required to successfully demonstrate the ability to climb heights up to 200 feet and successfully satisfy confined space entry testing. Successful candidates will be expected to progress through the Pascagoula Formal Maintenance Training Program within 3 years of their hire date.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Performing a variety of field and shop work on refinery equipment.
  • Operating various welding shop equipment.
  • Repairing vessels, columns, boilers, furnaces, tanks, heat exchangers, and piping.
  • Reading and fabricating from blue print drawings.
  • Performing some mechanical and troubleshooting activities.
  • Performing other incidental craft work, e.g., fabrication, machinery, etc. in order to complete job.
  • Organizing, planning and executing daily work assignments.
  • Following routine duties, safe work practices and demonstrating safe work behaviors.
  • Working with other functional departments such as Reliability, Operations and Engineering on a daily basis.
  • The position will typically work a 4x10 dayshift work schedule.
  • Typical shifts are Monday - Thursday but can vary based on work needs.
  • Occasional shift work and overtime is required. The position can also be called out after normal work hours as needed.
  • Work associated with this position is typically done outdoors year-round.
  • This position requires driving on a routine basis.

 


Required Qualifications:

 

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience (military service is considered work experience) or Associate of Applied Science Degree in Welding with hours in Pipefitting or from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College or Associate of Applied Science Degree in Pipefitting with hours in Welding from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College or Technical Certificate in Welding with hours in Pipefitting from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College or Technical Certificate in Pipefitting with hours in Welding from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

 


Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

  • Successful completion of an Internship with the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery as a Fabrication Intern or formalized apprenticeship training program.
  • Relevant welding/pipefitter trade school endorsed by the Central Gulf Industrial Alliance (CGIA), military or formalized training program graduate.
  • Minimum of 5 years industrial experience in pipe welding/fitting

Mechanical Aptitude Assessment

Measures personal characteristics important to success in the job applied for.

The duration of the assessment is approximately 2 hours. The assessment can also be accessed from your Chevron profile under "Job Management" or via the link sent to your email.

Your assessment score will be valid for 365 days from the day you complete your on-line assessment.

Chevron's tests are focused on industrial aptitudes. However, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test preparation guides may be helpful in preparation for these tests. Candidates should focus on mechanical aptitude, reading comprehension, understanding information in tables and graphs, and understanding industrial math.
