Job purpose

Lead and be design authority for project development process engineering concept / PFD development, optimising processes and providing technical support both on and offshore

 

Duties

  • Lead and manage work to meet Project requirements and in accordance with Company, and where appropriate client, processes, procedures and systems
  • Lead and mentor team as required
  • Develop and maintain Department Standards and Procedures
  • Maintain cost and customer focus at all times
  • Ensure an appropriate level of interface and engagement within your team, the client and Corporate PD&MS
  • Maintain the required high technical quality of work within the discipline
  • Ensure that Department work output complies with the relevant good engineering practice, recommended practices, standards and guidelines, UKCS and international legislation
  • Ensure as far as practically possible all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule and manage any changes to same
  • Remain up-to-date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the scope of the discipline
  • Promote the training and technical development of engineers and graduates
  • Prepare estimates and assist in the review of proposed schedules
  • Provide technical assistance to other disciplines as required
  • Ensure Department provides documentation and drawing deliverables for inclusion in workpacks and/or design books on time to meet offshore deadlines
  • Perform, check and approve process engineering calculations including process simulation, line sizing, Equipment sizing and utilities consumption estimates. Produce process engineering deliverables for proposals and projects
  • Ensure Department produce cost effective designs that are fit for purpose and safe
  • Act as discipline Focal Point in discussions with Client counterparts and visit job sites as required
  • Responsible for ensuring own and Department members professional development is maintained and identified competency requirements are undertaken in a timely manner
  • Ensure Department and own adherence to the company integrated management system
  • Ensure Department and own compliance with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental policies
  • Demonstrate and promote PD&MS QHSE principles and lead by example
  • Ensure unsafe activities are challenged
  • Adherence to the requirements of the best practice standards recommendations and processes in the undertaking of duties, in particular, risk assessment and control, reliability and failure prevention necessary to ensure the safe design, provision and use of tools, equipment and systems
  • Demonstrate and promote PD&MS values and lead by example
  • Ensure direct report performance reviews are carried out within the required timescales

 

Skills & Experience required

  • BSc or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Relevant engineering experience in the offshore oil & gas industry
  • Detailed understanding of all Engineering disciplines
  • Experience in PFD/P&ID development and detailed engineering of oil & gas facilities
  • Experienced in simulation technology and other process software
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards
