Role Summary:Workshop-based role requiring trade level mechanical fitting skills. The job involves inspection,
analysis, testing, repair and maintenance of a broad range of drilling and subsea equipment.
Interpretation of procedures, work instructions and drawings is an essential element of the job.
The capacity to work independently and to demonstrate initiative is a requirement. Application of
safe working practices and quality control processes is paramount.
Essential Responsibilities:Actively participate in EHS, Integrity and Quality programs and initiatives.
Strictly adhere to the EHS policies and procedures. Apply safe work practices for self and others
at all times.
Visually inspect drilling and subsea equipment and identify wear and faults as per standard
operating procedures.
Repair and refurbish drilling and subsea equipment to specified standards.
Prepare, set up and conduct hydraulic and pneumatic testing of drilling and subsea equipment as
per standard operating procedures.
Identify defects, faults or wear that require engineering inspection.
Correct and safe use of hand and power tools.
Perform engineering measurements and computations.
Interpret technical drawings and procedures.
Operate a forklift and other mobile equipment.
Operate an overhead crane, ensuring correct slinging techniques.
Plan and perform routine tasks and activities.
Carry out inspections and routine maintenance tasks on shop equipment.
Work independently to complete tasks and activities. Maintain housekeeping to a high standard.
Use of computers to create Manufacturing Orders when required to help in a busy Manufacturing
Engineering department when required.
Develop routings and maintain manufacturing methods within routings.
Provide technical guidance to suppliers and shop toward product / process compliance with
engineering drawings and specifications.
Work closely with sourcing and engineering to eliminate roadblocks and communication barriers
that may affect quality and delivery requirements.Qualifications/Requirements:Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent: or
Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (ARTC) in a mechanical trade
Desired Characteristics:Experience in the repair and maintenance of drilling and subsea equipment.
Experience and knowledge within subsea segment such as trees, chokes, IWOCS, controls
system, etc.
Experience and knowledge within drilling segment such as wellhead connectors, BOP's, risers,
diverter system, etc.
Experience in the oil and gas industry.
Ability to supervise and provide on-the-job training to apprentices and trainees.
