Our workforce, like our technology, is rapidly expanding and looking for a qualified Well Planner II.





The Well Planner is accountable for daily preparation of directional well plans, pre-run analysis for T&D, Hydraulics and BHA Critical Speeds for our clients and on site-personnel. Well Planner is also responsible for advanced operations, which include remote troubleshooting and real-time Anti-collision monitoring with survey management.


This position works alongside with the real-time operations center and Rigline 24/7 to provide directional plan analysis and incite to on-site field operations.


  • Work 2^nd and 3^rd shift within Rigline 24/7 center and provide night monitoring and supervision of wellbore activities.

  • Provide night-time after hours support for Directional Drilling software suite

  • Handle after hour tasks as needed to support overall well planning, performance tools, and Rigline 24/7 business units

  • Maintaining and documenting well plans, structure files, 3D-analysis, torque & drag, hydraulics and casing programs relating to ongoing field work and for development of future work.

  • Preparing well path proposals using client-supplied geological data.

  • Analyzing proposals in relation to offset well information in order to advise client and field staff.

  • Working closely with Directional Coordinators to prepare appropriate materials for bid packages and to ensure the smooth operation of ongoing jobs that meet or exceed client expectations.

  • Preparing multi-well structure control data for the production of spider plots, 3D-proximity reports, ellipse of uncertainty reports and 3D interference plots.

  • Planning, revising, and drafting final working copies of wall plots, spider maps, log-enhanced wall plots, ellipse of uncertainty plots and 3D interference plots.

  • Process End of Well Reports and Gamma logs for MWD Department and KPI's if required.

  • Completing and filing documents for State Regulatory Authority.

  • Sort morning reports and deliver to Coordinator for review before filing

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 5+ years' experience in MWD, Directional Drilling, Gyro Survey, Well Bore Logging or Drilling

  • Minimum 2-5 years of industry related experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Civil or Surveying preferred

  • Anti-collision experience a plus

  • Previous experience with Well Planning software is preferred (Compass R 5000)

  • Experience using Engineering Software for T&D, Hydraulics, and BHA Critical Speeds
