Role Summary:

The Procurement Engineer will help drive continuous improvement with our suppliers, improve the sourcing decisions (the right part to the right supplier), determine needs, develop suppliers, and assist with technical matters. The individual will also manage suppliers (cost, quality, delivery, etc.) and help drive overall performance.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Analyze all suppliers in order to select the most suitable suppliers who are able to deliver high quality products at competitive pricing
  • Negotiate with suppliers on lead-time, cost and quality to obtain the maximum benefit for the company
  • Manage suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, delivery performance, schedule and quality
  • Develop suppliers to become more efficient / use best practices and coordinate with suppliers on continuous improvement
  • Identify and develop suppliers to be able to produce material to BHGE standards
  • Determine that the facility has the machinery, components and supplies needed to efficiently and safely operate
  • Review any engineering changes that impact material or supplier, to adjust stocks accordingly
  • Assist suppliers with drawings, technical questions, technical improvements
  • Identify alternatives for obsolete / unavailable components

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Experience with electronic assemblies and component level-troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of Supply Chain
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement
  • Experience with engineering change orders
  • Ability to analyze bills of material and understand key requirements
  • Must be able to read technical drawings, spec sheets, dimensions, tolerances, etc. in various formats (PDF, scanned copies, spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Must be able to travel, when needed
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with personal computers and networking, specifically SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and Solid Works (or equivalent CAD / CAM)
  • Ability to identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Ability to work with the supplier while balancing the benefits for both BHGE and the supplier
  • Must be able to both manage the business requirements of procurement and the requirements of a supporting Engineer
  • Must be able to influence both internal and external team members, customers, and suppliers
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams for design for manufacturability

Desired Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement and operations
  • Knowledge and direct experience in negotiating contracts and quotations with Contract Manufacturers and Suppliers
  • Minimum level of education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
