Job Description

We're seeking an expert in remote sensing with geospatial skills, for a role where you'll be able to stretch your technical and leadership skills. With a great opportunity to make a real impact on our long-term business strategy, helping us direct the future of Shell's global success.

Where you fit

There is a growing demand within Shell for remote sensing data and techniques, and a key part of our remote sensing activities is to ensure Shell's growing archives of remote sensing data is well managed and deployed, combined with maintaining an up to date understanding of new platforms and sensors for harnessing new insights from remotely sensed data.

Which is where you come in. As Remote Sensing Analyst, you'll be providing expert technical advice to Shell Projects, including conventional Oil and Gas, Downstream and New Energies, from exploration and new business development, to environmental management and Geomatics operational activities.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you're going to be pivotal to assessing business needs and articulating and delivering remote sensing solutions.

What's the role?

As Remote Sensing Analyst, you'll provide front line remote sensing consultancy, leadership, expertise, and project delivery across Shell's diverse global portfolio of assets and projects. Growing the profile of remote sensing data and techniques as a business enabling technology.

Using your excellent project management skills, you'll think laterally as you balance a range of challenges, for instance, working on a geological mapping project whilst simultaneously on a project for Shell Trading. Identifying, understanding and consulting on a wide variety of business challenges and implementing appropriate remote sensing technologies.

Flexible and with excellent problem-solving skills, you'll confidently lead the planning, execution, evaluation and continuous improvement of remote sensing projects. Keeping abreast of emerging remote sensing techniques and data providers, identifying gaps, and helping to inform future business strategy that will keep us ahead of the market.

Other duties include:

  • Driving implementation of new technology, data delivery and services, all aligned with the Geo-Information strategy.
  • Ensuring customer requirements are met and customer risks are managed, with special emphasis on Geo-Information and geodetic integrity.
  • Leading technical assurance in Remote Sensing and ensuring all activities comply with standards from Geo-Information.
  • Developing workflows and processes for integrating remote sensing data with other Geo-Information data.
  • Actively participating in Incident Response drills and support Incident Response through the use of appropriate remote sensing technologies.

It's your talent for listening, communicating and influencing which will see you succeed here. Working collaboratively with global, often virtual, project teams, you'll develop and coach the knowledge and capabilities of staff in remote sensing, and take the lead on sharing knowledge and experiences with the global remote sensing network.
