Job Description

The Analytical Chemist provides process chemistry support to the Analytical Laboratory to ensure excellence in Process Safety, Reliability, Margin/Energy Optimization, and Cost Management. The chemist works closely with the Process Chemists and Technicians to provide technical assurance to the laboratory in to support production plan delivery. In addition, the chemist plays a key role in Continuous Improvement, Project Development, and Turnaround Planning and Execution.

Perform proactive data monitoring to understand online analyzer performance, troubleshoot operating issues, and identify opportunities for improvement. This key Analytical Chemist activity is a feeder for multiple work processes.
  • Provide lab data assurance to ensure the data used by process units to operate within established limits
  • Identify threats to meeting the production plan and business objectives and develop and implement plans to mitigate these threats.
  • Utilize sound Causal Learning methods for problem solving and determining root and contributing causes to product quality events and laboratory events.
  • Participate in MOCs to ensure robust Product Quality Management during changes to be implemented.
  • Identify opportunities for Margin improvements and drive changes to capture these opportunities.
  • Provide lab support to TA Planning and Execution to ensure Reliability and TA objectives are met.
  • Provide support to capital projects to ensure proper implementation and performance when integrated into existing operating units and systems.

Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Must at least have Bachelor's degree; BS Chemistry preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in refining or chemical industry in an analytical chemistry role.
  • Strong analytical background in troubleshooting
  • Effective problem solving of methodology and equipment
  • Causal analysis experience
