The Top Drive Technician is responsible for performing regularly scheduled inspections while minimizing unnecessary costs and maximizing safety and efficiency of the Top Drive system


•Rig up and remove top drives in a safe and organized manner
•Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic problems
•Maintain the spare parts inventory and ensuring spares meet safe operating standards
•Respond to downtime in a professional manner
•Minimize downtime through preventive maintenance
•Stock necessary parts for scheduled maintenance
•Address concerns and provide viable solutions and alternatives
•Propose recommendations on maintenance systems management
•Train personnel on proper operation and maintenance
•Both field work and working at the DSC in NISKU will be required
•Uphold Precision's safety standards at all times


Knowledge & Skills

High level of comfort working at heights up to 140 feet

H2S, WHIMIS, First Aid and Fall arrest training is required

Valid Driver's License is required

Reliable personal vehicle is required to facilitate travel between job sites

Demonstrated mechanical and electronic aptitude

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to multi-task, find solutions and establish priorities

Exhibit initiative, responsibility and flexibility

Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills, problem solve and work independently

This position is subject to Drug & Alcohol Testing and Fitness to Work Testing



High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent



Hydraulic experience and computer knowledge required

Previous oilfield drilling experience is required

Experience working with Top drives is required
