Job purpose

Undertake project development process engineering concept / PFD development, optimising processes and providing technical support both on and offshore.


  • Provide Process Engineering support to the Project requirements as defined by Lead Process Engineer
  • Contribute to the attainment of the team and individual performance targets
  • Ensure adherence to and maintenance of Department Standards and Procedures
  • Maintain cost and customer focus at all times
  • Interface and engage as appropriate within Process team, with other disciplines, and with the Client
  • Deliver high quality technical work
  • Ensure that Department work output complies with the relevant good engineering practice, recommended practices, standards and guidelines, UKCS and international legislation
  • Execute workscopes in compliance with agreed budget and schedule
  • Remain up-to-date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the scope of the discipline
  • Assist in the training and technical development of junior engineers and graduates
  • When required, prepare estimates and assist in the review of proposed schedules
  • Provide technical assistance to other disciplines as required
  • Provide documentation and drawing deliverables for inclusion in workpacks and, or design books on time to meet offshore deadlines
  • Perform and check process engineering calculations including process simulation, line sizing, equipment sizing and utilities consumption estimates.
  • Produce process engineering deliverables for proposals and projects
  • Produce cost effective designs that are fit for purpose and safe
  • Contribute to Process Safety studies such as Safety Screening, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Fault and Event Tree Analysis
  • Participate as necessary in discussions with Clients and visit job sites as required
  • Assist the Lead Engineer when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties
  • Responsible for ensuring professional development is maintained and identified competency requirements are undertaken in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate adherence to the company integrated management system
  • Compliance with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental policies
  • Demonstrate and promote PD&MS QHSE principles and lead by example
  • Ensure unsafe activities are challenged
  • Adherence to the requirements of the best practice standards recommendations and processes in the undertaking of duties, in particular, risk assessment and control, reliability and failure prevention necessary to ensure the safe design, provision and use of tools, equipment and systems
  •  Demonstrate and promote PD&MS values and lead by example
  • Ensure direct report performance reviews are carried out within the required timescales 
  • Authorised to produce and sign engineering design deliverables as being engineering checked and approved in line with department matrix.

Qualifications / Skills required

  • BSc or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Relevant engineering experience in the offshore oil & gas industry
  • Experience in PFD/P&ID development and detailed engineering of oil & gas facilities
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant Oil & Gas
  • Industry Codes and Standards
  • Experienced in simulation technology and other process software
