Role Summary/Purpose

The Electronics Engineer - PPS (Process & Pipeline Services) will lead Technical Regulations & Standards (TRS) program to review or design applicable electronics to meet North America Electrical Safety regulatory requirements such as ANSI/UL/CSA. This role will partner with TRS Subject Matter Expert (SME) from different regions, Quality, Technology, Commercial, and Supply Chain teams as well as working with certification bodies to prepare electrical design submittals and obtain approvals.

This is a great opportunity for an Electronics Engineer to join our exciting and innovative electronics engineering team. In this role, you will provide input to product design, improvements and innovation, producing cutting edge electronics for global use in the arena of pipeline inspection tools. The basis of the hardware is parallel high-performance computers based on microprocessors and FPGAs.

Essential Responsibilities

In the role of Electronics Engineer - PPS, you will:
  • Serve as electronics TRS SME for the PPS division performing evaluation & implementation of applicable technical regulatory requirements for North America
  • Drive TRS reviews during New Product Introduction and Inquiry to Order stages and support execution of applicable requirements
  • Develop system level solutions to complex electronic design and signal processing problems
  • Develop mixed-signal (Analogue / Digital) electronics circuit designs to interface sensors and transducers
  • Develop electronics hardware in general, such as power supply boards and test equipment
  • Conduct acceptance testing and design proving of prototypes
  • Support suppliers with technical advice and interact with sourcing as first contact in Engineering
  • Ensure design and development of products that satisfy customers' technical requirements and meet both time-scale and budgetary constraints
  • Accountability for quality, safety and fitness for purpose
  • Produce high quality product documentation according to ISO 9000 and ATEX
  • Work closely with other Electronic, Mechanical and Software Engineers to produce state-of-the-art systems
  • Supporting external customers and internal functions (sales, sourcing, etc.)

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3 years of electronics design experience

Desired Characteristics
  • Knowledge of North America Electrical Safety regulatory requirements such as such as ANSI / UL / CSA
  • Experience working in a formal design environment with a version control system and review and release processes
  • Knowledge of serial interfaces and protocols (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, LVDS etc).
  • C-programming knowledge (Microcontrollers)
  • VHDL knowledge (FPGA, CPLD)
  • Regulatory experience (CE marking, ATEX, CSA, IEC, etc.) in Oil and Gas applications
  • Demonstrable knowledge of hardware manufacturing processes, assembly and test
  • Demonstrable Computer Aided Design system knowledge in electronics circuit design
  • Excellent knowledge of analogue & digital hardware
  • Excellent knowledge of different processors and FPGAs
  • Demonstrable experience in the use of laboratory equipment, environmental, and in-field test equipment
  • Experience in trouble shooting of hardware
  • Ability to work in a global, fast moving team and enthusiasm for leading-edge technology
  • Ability to work self-motivated with guidance from remote Manager
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and influencing skills
