SUMMARY: Either directly or by delegation, and under the direction of the Director of U.S. O&P Laboratory Operations, the Laboratory Information Systems Specialist is a part-time role expected to assist with the laboratory information systems master data, training, implementation and support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, generally at a national level:
- LIMS specialist/key user for the O&P business
- Master data creation, review and validation
- Live support of implementations in US O&P locations
- Training for LIMS and other/future laboratory IS implementations
- Troubleshooting for LIMS and other/future laboratory IS implementations
- Assist with lean and digital transformation initiatives as they relate to the laboratory
- To carry out the above responsibilities, and all others that may be assigned, in a manner demonstrating support for and adherence to the Company's Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Policy and Procedures, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and Strategy, and to exercise good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy in so doing.
- Maximum hours 29 per week
- Travel required: 10-40%

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in chemistry or related field and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with:
- In depth understanding of quality systems (examples: ISO 9000, BQ 9000, and ISO 17025)
- Testing of oil and petrochemical products by standard methodologies (examples: ASTM, ISO, and IP)
- Daily use of LIMS in laboratory operations, including master data concepts
- Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write in depth reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees in their work group or department. Ability to develop policies and procedures related to the quality efforts in the laboratory.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Able to perform algebraic calculations and statistical analysis of data. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphical data.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, AND REGISTRATIONS: Current valid driver's license required.
