Role Summary:

The Lead Product Development Engineer is responsible for the execution of the technology strategic plan for either product design improvements or new product initiatives (NPI) employing conventional design techniques. In addition, this role has a specific requirement related to system engineering for product development activities in support of the Composite Program.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition to the day to day responsibilities related to product development and engineering work programs, the successful candidate will also:-


  • Ensure that Product Development, Quality, HSE and Engineering processes are followed for all aspects of the NPI program iaw with BHGE, Industry and (where applicable) client standards.
  • Support the development of detailed work package/test scope planning and assessment of commercial and contractual aspects/risk for outsourced activities.
  • When required, directly coordinate/lead programs related to the provision of development related services, test rig development and the implementation of bespoke testing with internal test facilities (NIC/RIC) or external test houses.
  • Ensure regular reporting of program status, risks, business issues and significant developments to stakeholders at regular intervals including operational reporting to program manager and functional leadership.
  • Maintain awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews to schedule dates and responsiveness to customer / program needs.
  • Support development of plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments and track completion of all technical deliverables within the Composite program iaw schedule requirements.
  • Any other duties as identified by Product Development & Validation Leader





  • A university degree in an Engineering related subject; Master's degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 to 4 years' experience at an Engineer level functioning with an increased level of specialization, practice and responsibility plus development of others and demonstrating leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience of system engineering or technical/schedule management on engineering projects.
  • Engineer/scientist working towards chartered status with a recognized institution.
