Duties & Responsibilities

This is a senior technical role responsible for leading and delivering engineering analysis for subsea umbilical products.It involves working closely alongside local Project Engineering and Proposals teams to ensure subsea umbilical designs are safe, reliable, and compliant with customer specifications.Although primarily focused on local project activities. You will also be part of a broader global analysis team and report directly to the Global Analysis Manager.

  • Lead project analysis work on umbilical products and ancillary equipment to ensure associated tasksare delivered on schedule and to a high level of quality.
  • Be responsible for the co-ordination of analysis work and task delegation to other engineering analysts located at the company's offshore technology centre in India to ensure project schedules are achieved.
  • Take responsibility for checking delegated work to ensure the standard of analysis documentation sent to clients is correct and of high quality.
  • Manage client review comments and the document revision process.
  • Provide expertise, training and support for other members of the analysis team to support them in their execution project work including simulation modeling and compiling reports.
  • Be able to lead and participate in discussions with customers and interface with suppliers on a regular basis.
  • Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the relative company systems, processes and procedures.
  • Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.
  • Displays required levels of engagement and a positive `can-do` attitude while consistently supporting Oceaneering culture of Safety, Quality, ongoing learning and continual improvement.
  • Any other roles or tasks as required to support our business needs.


  • Assist local proposals team in defining analysis scope and provide estimated analysis labor hours for rfqs
  • Keep up-to-date and conversant in latest customer and industry specifications relating to subsea umbilical analysis.
  • Organise lessons learnt sessions to continuously improve analysis methods and reporting.
  • Help compile metrics and drive productivity in the analysis process.
  • Occasional business travel that may require a passport

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The role has no direct reports but does require organizing and delegating work to other members of the analysis team who are based in Oceaneering's ODC offices in India.



The following qualifications and experience are required:

  • Degree in Offshore Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience conducting Dynamic Analysis of Umbilicals and/or Flexible Risers


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Capable of conducting Dynamic Analysis of Umbilicals and/or Flexible Risers, including Extreme, Fatigue, Interference and VIV assessments.
  • Understanding of local analysis techniques in order to generate component stress load relationships, friction stress, capacity curves radial crush and cross-section stiffness properties.
  • Familiarity with ISO13628-5, API 17E, API 17 L1, API 17 L2, DNV RP F105, DNVGL RP C205.
  • Good competency in OrcaFlex is essential.
  • Programming ability in Python and VBA is advantageous
  • A good working knowledge of DNV Stablelines, DNV FATFREE, Shear7, and ANSYS is desirable.
  • Capable of generating high quality technical documentation to capture and convey compliance
  • Must be well organized and capable of working to deadlines
  • Ensures that important information from management is shared with employees and others as appropriate
  • Should act upon constructive feedback to improve quality and maximize benefit from lessons learnt exercises.
  • Must ensure that others involved in a project or effort are kept informed about developments and plans
  • Proactive leader in ensuring regular consistent communication takes place within area of responsibility
