Role Summary:

The Global Logistics Import / Export Region Leader for North America is responsible for deploying the global import and export strategy for M&C, OFE and TPS product companies importing product into North America as well as factories & service centers exporting product out of North America. This role with work closely with the product company logistics leaders to ensure all international transactions adhere to the rules and regulations that govern importing and exporting goods.

Also, this role will assist the BHGE International Trade Compliance (ITC) team with developing, deploying and maintaining programs that ensure compliance with regulations. This position is critical for maintaining access to global markets. This position is responsible for recruiting, leading and developing the export / import team for the NAM region.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role of Global Logistics Import / Export Region Leader - NAM, you will:
  • Deploy a comprehensive logistics strategy for cross border transactions and logistics providers
  • Monitor daily operations of the global import & export operational teams
  • Work closely with the manufacturing & services locations to develop, train & deploy the origin logistics model - ensuring all export & import requirements are accurately documented before equipment ships from the seller's dock
  • Work closely with the global product classification team as it relates to the request & receipt of Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes, Schedule B codes & ECCN
  • Work closely with the Global I/E CoE Leader and Vendor Development, Compliance & Governance Leader to lead routine internal and external audits of import and export transactions within the region
  • Manage the performance of customs brokers including measuring service-level agreements (SLA) adherence by conducting sample audits of broker submissions, and compile and manage compliance scorecards
  • Identify action items, marshal resources to address action items and follow-up on all trade compliance-related issues
  • Ensure records are maintained within the region to support compliance with government agencies and international trade regulations. When necessary, assist legal counsel, logistics and sales
  • Monitor and track compliance, and resolve violations and conflicts
  • Facilitate the acquisition of export and import licenses in close coordination with BHGE ITC regional and product company leaders
  • Manage power of attorney requests and ensure compliance of POA usage by approved parties only
  • Resolve transactional issues relating to the clearance of shipped goods by working daily with brokers and other related logistics providers
  • Operate and manage daily reporting requirements for transactions and inventory in BHGE foreign trade zones (FTZ)
  • Act as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, customers and vendor queries

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, International trade, Finance, Accounting, International business, Logistics, Supply chain and/or law from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in global materials and logistics leadership roles
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with direct import/export customs related responsibilities

Desired Characteristics:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working with logistics & trade compliance
  • Minimum 10 successful years working in a teambased global environment
  • Minimum 5 experience using PC-based trade compliance systems and trade content services Minimum 10 years of experience working in the oil & gas industry
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on information gathering, analysis and management reporting Minimum 5 years of experience with environmental regulations
  • Fluency in foreign languages
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with global supply chain functions & initiatives
  • Membership in professional organizations, trade or user groups, and a pattern of regular attendance at industry conferences to enhance knowledge of trade compliance is preferred
  • Accredited zone specialist is preferred
  • A customs broker's license is preferred
