JOB DESCRIPTION

Contribute towards quality control, including development of quality plans, gathering quality requirements, defining inspection procedures, and standard testing.  Perform manual and automated testing of company developed products including software applications, embedded firmware, hardware, and system integration.  Develop, document, and execute test plans for concurrent test cycles.  Maintain technical documentation to support product enhancements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contribute towards quality control, including development of quality plans, gathering quality requirements, defining inspection procedures, and standard testing. 

Perform manual and automated testing of company developed products; software applications, embedded firmware testing, hardware testing, system integration testing. Utilize various communication protocols FTP, HTTP, TCP/IP, RS232, RS485 in a network environment.

Develop, document and execute test plans based on expected and actual results; which may include running concurrent test cycles.

Maintain test cycles and documentation following configuration management, i.e. version control.

Report weekly statuses of each test cycle identifying, documenting and tracking all issues (bugs) until resolution.

Ensure that the technical and user documentation adequately supports the product enhancements.

Train and assist other departments and customers with new functionality and installation requirements.

Obtain knowledge and communicate interface functionality for third party products that may be used during the testing process.

Analyze field problem reports and plan remedial action to remedy them as required.

Perform various other duties assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality System Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures, and Workplace Instructions.

Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with quality control, including development of quality plans, gathering quality requirements, defining inspection procedures, and standard testing. 

Manual and automated testing experience. Test types utilized: White box code testing, regression, performance, black box, and field release/implementation testing.

Basic electronics knowledge.

Proficiency in the basic Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, access.

Strong Problem Solving/debugging skills

Must be well organized and have good communication skills (verbal & written).

BS degree or equivalent in engineering discipline or related technical field.

The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.

Preferred:

Programming knowledge.  The ability to read and understand a language, C++.

SCADA system knowledge.

Modbus Protocol knowledge.

Experience creating quality plans and procedures.

1 to 5 years relevant professional experience preferred; testing software applications, embedded system firmware and hardware.
