Overview:

This position is to provide technical support for Geoscientists and the Reserves Team in AMBU to facilitate development and exploration of unconventional resources in the Appalachian Basin.

Responsibilities:

The position provides support for Geoscience technical work. The ability to make maps and cross sections will be used for reservoir characterization. Monitoring competitor activity and updating regional projects by downloading new core and log information will also be needed. Formatting data to be available in Geolog will also be necessary.

The successful applicant will be providing support for the Reserves Team. The applicant will work with Reservoir Engineers and Development Geologists to produce Reserves Category maps in ArcGIS and to help manage the Reserves database.

The position will also include part-time geosteering and well planning to support unconventional drilling operations. Providing information for regulatory reports, managing file cuttings, updating % in zone data, and assisting with well planning (e.g. GeoPrognosis and Lateral Hazard Maps) will be needed.

Attention to detail, a highly organized approach to work problems, and the ability to multi-task are essential traits given the large amount of data and the broad range of technical work being supported.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in geosciences
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience utilizing Earth Science Software (e.g. Petrel)
  • Previous Oil & Gas experience
  • Experience with Earth Science databases
  • Ability to make maps and cross sections
  • Familiarity with data-loading of subsurface information is required


Preferred Qualifications:
  • AcrGIS proficiency is strongly desired
  • Petrel, Geolog, Spotfire, and Excel experience
  • Experience with Geosteering and Well Planning, including StarSteer proficiency
  • Familiarity with Drilling concepts
  • Strong knowledge of Reserves and Resource booking methodologies
  • Basic knowledge of well logs and petrophysics
