Job Description

What's the role?

As senior Materials and Corrosion Engineer, you'll be our go-to expert, developing, implementing and managing materials and corrosion engineering support, contributing to global strategy and initiatives across different business sectors and activities, with a focus on Downstream facilities.

Based within our Downstream Europe team in Amsterdam, you'll be part of a team of top experts in materials and corrosion engineering as well as other fields of expertise and act as the Technical Authority in your area of expertise. It's a role that comes with an exciting range of possibilities and responsibilities. On the one hand you'll support major Downstream sites in the Region, on the other you are part of a Global team of experts, where you will support Downstream sites outside the Region as well as assets in other businesses. Helping develop and apply new practices and technologies and input for project designs and engineering, and provide advice on materials selection.

More specific duties may include:
  • Asset support to major Refineries and Chemicals manufacturing sites
  • Contributing to large failure analysis and root cause analysis/causal learning studies.
  • Leading or participating in Asset Integrity Reviews
  • Managing HSSE compliance and risk based inspections
  • Acting as Global Subject Matter Expert in specific fields of Expertise
  • Technical Mentoring of less experienced engineers.

You'll also be using your natural communication skills of diplomacy and trust to nurture professional networks both internally and externally, including providing expert training and coaching of staff and maintaining strong customer and supplier relations.

Requirements

What we need from you

We're keen to hear from Dutch-speaking men and women with extensive experience (>15 years) within the refining and petrochemical industry, including work in operating units. Alongside your proven experience and expertise within materials and corrosion engineering, we'd also expect to see a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in materials engineering, chemicals technology or another relevant discipline.
