HIGH LEVEL JOB DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: HIGH LEVEL JOB DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: The combination of the total depth ~30,000 ft tvd directional targets, high pressure (>25000 psi BHP and possible 20k mudline pressure), sub-salt complex geology, narrow MW-PP-FG windows in >5000 ft water depth, and complex casing designs make the wells drilled in GOM some of the most complex wells in Chevron's global portfolio. GOM's Deepwater well design has the additional complicating factor of an evolving regulatory environment that requires more robust solutions and attention to detail. This position is a member of the Drilling Engineering Team that prepares the well designs and procedures for delivering Exploration and Appraisal wells. This position ensures that Chevron's Technical Standards and SOPs are applied during the Well Construction CPDEP (Phase 2-5) planning and execution process. The primary work scope is performing detailed casing design and Worst Case Discharge (WCD) load case analysis using StressCheck and WellCat, preparing the drilling program for executing the well design, assessing the well design and executional risks/uncertainities using the RUMS process, applying lessons learned and best practices, and delivering the WellSafe requirements to obtain the internal Assurance certification. This position interfaces with G&G / Appraisal team and the local regulatory agencies to obtain permits and maintain compliance throughout execution. Once the well begins execution, this position provides Operational/Execution Guidance on individual operations during CPDEP Phase 4 and supports the Drilling Superintendent in consultation with D&C Engineering Advisor (Exploration/Appraisal or MCP's) as needed
This position also provides functional support to the entire D&C Engineering group through mentoring of less experienced Field D&C Engineers as a member of a multifunctional drilling and completions integrated project team.
Min of 6 years of overall engineering experience. Required minimum of 2-1/2 years of Field Drilling Engineering experience on a GOM deepwater 6th Gen DP vessel preparing detailed executional procedures, performing complex engineering calculations to support operations, and tracking costs / equipment. Required minimum of 2-1/2 years of Planning / Operations Drilling Engineer experience in support of drilling deepwater GOM exploration/appraisal wells under the Post-Macondo Worst Case Discharge well design criteria. Experience in a deepwater GOM drilling engineering is required.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Previous Chevron Experience is a plus.
Minimum 6 Years of Engineering related work experience.
Proficient in the use of WellView and Landmark Drilling Engineering Tool Box is preferred.
Previous GOM experience in Deepwater drilling, completion & intervention operations is required.
Relocation within Chevron policy is provided.
