IT Directors are responsible for overseeing and directing IT activities and strategic direction for one or more major functional and/or technical areas within the IT organization on a global or multi-region basis. IT Directors may also represent the IT organization and oversee IT activities across multiple functional departments and/or business units in a collaborative manner acting as a consultant and providing direction to ensure Weatherford's IT services, support, projects and overall strategy are aligned with the appropriate business priorities. IT Directors will have direct responsibility for financial planning, expense management and staff management within their functional area. They will possess excellent inter-personal skills and work well in a collaborative environment with strong facilitation and consensus building skills to ensure success of cross functional initiatives. They will be willing to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple competing priorities and assignments. They must understand general project management and accounting principles in order to support budgeting, planning and management of projects and expenses in their functional area. And they must be able to work closely with executives and understand strategy and financial information at a departmental as well as a company level.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mentoring, leadership and team building skills across managers and senior staff members with emphasis on specific disciplines.
Ability to create and articulate IT architecture solutions and strategy
Effective communicator with strong emphasis on inter-personal skills, to manage and motivate teams across multiple disciplines to enable architecture strategy to be delivered
Understands major business areas and processes and interacts effectively with senior managers and executives outside of IT.
Knowledge of IT industry and business unit industry trends, developments and strategies
Knowledge of business unit organizational structure, products and services, and strategic initiatives.
Able to work with others to formulate general policies and procedures and long range plans.
Understands project and business cost drivers and the impact of technology on those costs.
Understands and performs a broad range of management responsibilities over others including managers within the IT organization
Able to produce written documents and presentations with clearly organized thoughts using proper English construction, punctuation, and grammar.
Able to communicate effectively with co-workers in face-to-face one-on-one settings, in group settings, or via telephone and will often act as the leader in these sessions.
Understands general project management principals, processes and tools to manage projects.
Understands general accounting principles, processes and systems for managing expenses.
Capable of developing complete business cases and presenting them to executive level management.
Capable of developing budgets and overseeing the budget and planning processes for one or more functional areas
Well versed with systems development tools and implementation methodologies.
Experience working with and managing Project Managers and IT Managers as well as business analysts, developers and consultants in an applications development arena.
Possess strong knowledge over a variety of IT architecture concepts:
1, Cloud computing
2. Infrastructure design
3. Application design methodologies
4. Knowledge of ERP systems
Strong knowledge of cloud computing and software development practices.
Possess a strong working knowledge of infrastructure components to allow for interaction with infrastructure support functions.
Able to direct and lead business process evaluations, requirements gathering, systems analysis, and design activities.
Ensures projects stay on schedule, deliver quality results and are aligned with business priorities and with proper governance in place.
Mentor in-house management and senior staff in the applications areas.
Contribute to major decisions on business applications including overall direction, architecture and external software providers.
Oversee managers and other senior staff in the applications area who are working as business partners and as client advocates to evaluate / improve business processes and arrive at mutual, cost effective business solutions.
Bachelors or Master's degree from an accredited university in business, technical or equivalent field. Additional years' experience can be used to substitute for degree.
15+ years' experience in business and/or IT position with 3+ years' experience in the Oil & Gas industry preferred.
10+ years' management experience, 5+ years overseeing and directing managers.
Past experience directing IT functions in either the infrastructure or applications disciplines with at least 5 years experience
Worked with offshore teams and have an understanding on how to work with and integrate offshore teams into projects alongside Weatherford staff
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic level plans and strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Excellent teaming, collaboration and leadership skills within and outside of an IT organization.
Travel Percentage: 10%
Work in both infrastructure and application development
Managing a cloud application development team
Successfully created and delivered cloud computing strategies
Work on IOT projects where their role was chief architect. Also have worked on said project and delivered it into production
Knowledge of automated control systems
