You'll be part of our Contracting and Procurement (C&P) team, which sits within Shell's Functions and Technologies (F&T), and has a significant impact on the performance of all individual businesses in the company. Which means you get to work as a trusted partner, driving business success through end to end management of procurement programmes, from strategy definition to implementation and improvement.

With deal sizes ranging from operational to strategic, small to large value, this is an environment where you'll be able to grow professionally and personally, playing a vital role in driving positive change in one of the world's largest companies and most developed procurement organizations.

What's the role?

Your role as Global Category Manager will see you responsible for commercial category management and contracting across Business Consulting, Finance, and Risk and Insurance. You'll help define our business strategy by providing valuable C&P expertise and support to a range of programmes, including mergers and acquisitions, cost and digital transformation, refurbishment, facilities management and insurance.

Expect a diverse range of duties, from developing commercial strategy and optimizing Shell's buying power and reducing third party spend, to establishing integrated cost saving targets and prioritizing workplans.

To succeed you're going to need to get the best value for Shell from complex strategies and deals, managing supplier relationships and contracts effectively and identifying market opportunities and competitive solutions. All with an eye to meeting business priorities and having an impact on commercial performance.

More specific duties will include:
  • Assuring the supply of quality, category specific goods and services at market competitive terms.
  • Providing value for money, and delivering commercial excellence in the category.
  • Seeking external market insights to enhance and grow category strategy.
  • Establishing yourself as a thought leader in the category and related markets.

Key to the role will be your excellent people skills, empowering teams to contribute and develop. Whilst you nurture collaborative stakeholder relations at every level to influence and drive strategy and commercial deals.
