Amega West Services is a subsidiary of Carpenter Technology Corporation based in Houston, Texas. Amega West is a leading manufacturer of high-precision complex components for measurement while drilling (MWD) and logging while drilling (LWD), drill collars, stabilizers and other down-hole tools that have been used for directional oil and gas drilling. Carpenter acquired Amega West in December 2010 to provide a more integrated value-added supply chain to oil and gas customers. This growing business operates within the corporation's Performance Engineered Products division and maintains more than ten strategically located facilities throughout the United States, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

Job Summary:

Mechanical Engineer with design experience within downhole drilling tools. Responsible for coordinating various project developments to ensure product changes and new product development while achieving engineering objectives as well as company initiatives. Will work very closely with sales and operations to ensure the product meets or exceeds their expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Design, coordinate prototype manufacture, shop testing, field testing and manufacture release of various downhole tools or existing tool modifications/improvements.

· Interface with sales and operations to help develop new product requirements.

· Visit periodically, field locations to oversee and assist in product testing, evaluation and introduction

· Develop Solidworks drawings and maintain documentation for all components

· Investigate field failures, root causes and report findings to operations

· Establish an approved list of prototype machine shops for fast quality response

· Participate in and lead team efforts to continually improve the product development process.

· Provide sustaining engineering support on existing product lines.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· BS in Mechanical Engineering

· 10+ years' actual experience in downhole tool design/engineering

· Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Solidworks and CosmosWorks software

· Knowledge of directional drilling process and tools utilized in the drilling process.

· Good interpersonal skills and communication

· Good project management skills

· Team player

· Authorized to work in the United States

· Capable of making field trips to the rigsite locations if necessary
