What's the role?

Shell Asset Management Company B.V. (SAMCo) in Rijswijk is the dedicated in-house asset manager for the Royal Dutch Shell plc group, sponsored pension funds and insurance companies.

SAMCo's objective is to provide high quality and cost-effective investment advice and asset management services to its clients. On behalf of its clients, SAMCo invests in fixed income, equities, and alternative investment categories (such as private equity), all over the world. Specific parts of the activities are also outsourced to external managers.

Continuous change in financial markets and regulations, as well as the diversity of SAMCo's clients and the products they invest in, make SAMCo a professionally challenging and rewarding environment to work in.

The Performance Analyst is responsible for analysing the performance of the investment portfolios of SAMCo's clients. The team uses Ortec PEARL as a performance tool to provide insight and attribution of equity and fixed income portfolios. The challenge for the performance analyst is to continue to develop insightful attribution and analysis that is relevant and keeps pace with the investment choices made. The goal is to make every investment decision, mandate and portfolio transparent when it comes to what drives the returns and how returns are related to risks.

What we need from you

We're keen to hear from men and women with extensive knowledge of the relevant methodologies and tools. Beyond that, you'll be able to show us as many of the following on your CV:
  • University education (MSc) in econometrics, finance, quantitative finance, mathematics, statistics or other quantitative/statistical field with relevance for understanding financial markets.
  • Knowledge of and a demonstrated interest in financial markets and instruments is a must.
  • Experience with valuation models and pricing of complex financial instruments.
  • Strong analytical skills and high level of accuracy. This experience should be demonstrable and preferably in the context of investment analysis.
  • Strong database programming skills (SQL for Oracle preferred).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex analysis in a concise, understandable manner.
