As part of a cross-functional team, provide leadership in mechanical design, analysis, systems integration, and packaging of flow measurement equipment for surface and subsea applications. Participate in and/or lead efforts in problem-solving, project management, process improvement, and codes & standards compliance for upstream oil & gas applications.


Perform a variety of engineering work in planning and design of products, tools, and other mechanically-functioning equipment and industrial processes for producing high quality, high reliability products.

Active participation in or leadership of development projects and interface with other members of the development team at all levels of the organization.

Active participation in or leadership of preparation of product performance and cost estimates, project schedules, and project budgets.  Able to develop and execute contingency plans as a project progresses.

Interface with staff of Engineering, Marketing, Production, Product Line Managers and WFT suppliers.

Design, construct, and test physical prototypes of new and existing products.  Maintain product and project documentation in accordance with company policies and management direction.

Use common design and analysis packages such as Pro-E (Creo) and AutoCAD.  FEA / Simulation experience considered advantageous.

Specify various fabrication techniques such as machining, welding, brazing, and use of industry-standard forms such as flanges, tees, spools, etc., for pressure piping.

Specify hazardous location requirements and design considerations for use of electro-mechanical systems in various hazardous zones.

Knowledgeable / expert in various oil & gas industry codes, standards, specifications, and recommended practices published by API, ANSI, ASME, ASTM, NACE, CSA , and ISO.  Familiarity with electrical system certification requirements (ANSI/UL, CSA, ATEX, IEC, EN) considered advantageous.

Proficient in problem solving within the Weatherford manufacturing / procurement environment with responsive attention to production issues and effective implementation of process tools such as root cause analysis, FMEA, FMECA, etc.

Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy.

Comply with all requirements of the Quality System Manual, operating and technical procedures, and workplace instructions.

Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.

Able to communicate well with Mumbai team and check their work for accuracy and ensure it is completed correctly for approval.

Able to interpret customer piping P&ID's and specifications and able to design (new) system around customer requirements.

Must have design knowledge and structural skid experience for packaging piping and instrumentation per structural welding code D1.1.

Familiarity with piping and instrumentation packages which includes valve sizing design and the ability to work with drafting to acquire new part numbers and specification documents for procurement.

Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constrains of the job.

Project management skills and experience.

Understanding of manufacturability issues and improvement opportunities.

Familiarity / expertise in ASME, API and/or other applicable codes & standards related to pressure vessels, pressure piping, fittings, etc.

Ability to work well individually and within a team environment.

Able to use common hand tools & some power tools proficiently on a limited basis.

Ability to travel to customer and/or supplier locations on occasion.

Training and experience using modern CAD and PDM packages.

BS Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree.

5 years of experience in a related field.

The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.


Formal training & experience using ASME B&PVC Section VIII & Section IX, ASME B31.3, etc.

Familiarity with hazardous area electrical codes and requirements.

Experience using Pro/E (Creo) and Windchill (PDM).

Experience with FEA and other simulation methods.

Training and experience using process improvement tools in a product design and manufacturing environment.

Familiarity / expertise in specs for subsea equipment - API 6A, 17D, 17F, 17N, etc.

5-7 years of experience within the oil & gas industry, upstream or downstream, preferably in equipment design, manufacturing, testing, and sustaining.

3-5 years of experience with subsea (API 17-series) and/or process piping (ASME B31-series) industries.

Experience with fabrication, assembly, test, installation and/or commissioning of piping & instrumentation systems.
