Job function/Scope:

To lead and manage the team with materials management and warehouse operations, ensuring all work practices carried out are in full compliance with both Peterson (United Kingdom) Ltd and client policies and procedures in relation to materials management. Specifically, you will promote and encourage safe working practices and initiatives within the workforce and competently provide operational management and direction to ensure maximum utilisation of resources in the delivery of service level agreements for our customers. The job holder will also demonstrate good leadership at all times and provide guidance, support and direction for all direct reports for the team as a whole. A key aspect of the role will be to demonstrate effective leadership to promote and maintain good internal and external relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.

Act as the main focal point for warehouse and materials operations and liaise closely with client representatives in seeking and delivering continual improvements.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Warehouse team, challenging performance as appropriate in terms of capability and conduct in a timely and effective manner whilst enlisting support and guidance from HR
  • Fully support a culture of performance management throughout the warehouse where all people are assessed for competence and appraised on a regular basis
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with direct reports, warehouse team and clients and set clear objectives and accountabilities. Coach, mentor and support the team as appropriate.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety policy and procedure and provide responsibility for promoting a safety culture.
  • Identify best practice with regards to inventory management techniques of client materials implementing improvements where required.
  • Ensure all materials are stored in accordance with Peterson (United Kingdom) Ltd requirements and Client system and policy requirements.
  • Ensure the accuracy of client system records for all items and materials movements.
  • Achievement of all pre-cycle, cycle and annual stock counts of clients material in accordance with agreed targets.
  • Efficiently provide plant and labour and coordinate for client activity minimising unnecessary cost.
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Ensure warehouse plant and equipment is regularly checked and maintained.
  • Assess staff competency and identify any training requirements to ensure safe and best working practices are applied at all times.
  • Plan and organise operations dealing effectively with changing circumstances and priorities as required.
  • Obtain and understand client specific needs and responsibilities, fostering positive working relationships with them
  • Ensure an accurate record and control of team working holidays, hours, sickness, overtime - maintaining service level standards.
  • Assist in conducting regular formal FPAL reviews with customers
  • Carry out regular site visits and safety inspections (both planned and unannounced)
  • Work collaboratively with HR to ensure that people are hired in accordance with the company's recruitment and selection policy
  • Proactively manage and challenge the performance of the warehouse team.
  • Report and monitor performance against agreed KPI's initiating performance improvements as required in a timely fashion.
  • Meet customers on a regular basis to update on operational performance to address any issues as and when they arise- implement a formal timetable to meet weekly, fortnightly or monthly
  • Comply with the company procedures.
  • Comply with Level 3 of HSE Employee Responsibility and Accountability.
  • Comply with Level 2 of Peterson Values & Behaviours.

Performance Measure

Delivery of key tasks and targets that are agreed and recorded each year. Actual performance will be reviewed against those targets set during the Employee Appraisal process including feedback from internal and external customers.

Qualifications and experience

Experience of managing multi-discipline teams

Competent in the use of materials management systems, for example SAP

Significant knowledge and experience of warehouse operations

Experience in the oil and gas industry preferred but not essential
