Chevron Canada Resources is currently seeking a Land Analyst - Mineral / Contract to join the Canadian Business Unit. This position will be based in Calgary, Alberta and will report to the Land Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing analytical Land support to the CBU Land team. This position will be responsible for the integrity of all CBU mineral and contract land data within the land system, CGI Landman. This role will require expertise in mineral and contract land systems and procedures, both technical and administrative. This position requires interaction with a broad array of internal and external stakeholders in Alberta, British Columbia and Offshore East Coast Canada.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide analytical Mineral Land support to Land Team.
  • Manage and monitor all expiries, provide reports to geologists, prepare ETS submissions, obtain Letters of Authorization (LOAs), ensure partner concurrence to recommendations before expiry, ensure partners are informed of submission rulings.
  • Manage and monitor all rental payments for the Mineral agreements; including escalating rentals, section 17 payments.
  • Deep understanding of Mineral Agreements and how they relate to the Contracts, DOIs, and Wells in LandMan
  • Working understanding.
  • Understand, interpret and provide summaries on Operating Agreements, Poolings, Farmouts, Data Exchanges and Royalty Agreements and other Land reviews.
  • Deep understanding and work closely with Contract Analyst on the maintenance of the Mineral Land Procedure Manual.
  • Perform due diligence reviews and chains of titles for A&D transactions and provide summaries.
  • Prepare Land Schedules for P&S, Trusts, Land Swap and Data Exchange Agreements.
  • Ability to pull data from internal and external sources and generate reports.
  • Ability to research Land System and records for historical or complicated issues.
  • Monitor mineral and contractual obligations and timelines.
  • Prepare Well Title Clearance Reports (WTCs), Title Search, Survey Plan, Mineral Information and Royalty identification.
  • Working knowledge on Preparing Producing Property Summaries (PPS) and monitor Royalty Payments for Finance.
  • Enter and track incoming AFEs into AFENavigator.
  • Liaison with Regulators, Alberta Energy, AER, BC Ministry, C-NLOPB and a strong understanding of the Regulations.
  • Setup Mineral files in Records Management System (RMS) and LandMan, create hard copy files.
  • Complete and keep Power of Attorney documents up to date for team.
  • Manage and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Prepare cheque requests.
  • Perform Title Searches and Continuation Applications in ETS; submit Mineral Consent Letters.
  • Review and approve invoices from payor companies.
  • Submit data and record requests to Records Management.
  • Establish relationships with CBU's legal team.
  • Establish relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare Mineral Acreage Reports and Acreage Decay Reports for Corp.
  • Manage LandMan Admin, vendor table access privileges.
  • Perform global changes and amalgamation changes to vendors.


  • Bachelors degree, preference for land, business or commerce.
  • 4 - 6 experience as an Oil & Gas land mineral/ contracts analyst for an exploration & production company.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Operating Agreements, Poolings, Farmouts, Data Exchanges, Royalty Agreements and other Land related agreements, including analyzing, and providing summaries.
  • Ability to represent Chevron's interests in a constructive and professional manner during interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of A&D transactions and processing of Conveyance documents.
  • Previous experience with land matters in Alberta and British Columbia.
  • Knowledge of Data Management Systems (preference for LandMan), Accumap would be an asset.
  • Proven ability to analyze and understand complex situations quickly and develop practical, appropriate solutions to resolve high impact people/business/process issues.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing work priorities and deliver high quality, accurate work with multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team environment, both supporting other team members and contributing to the effectiveness and reliability of the team.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
