Introduction

Bureau Veritas Testing and Inspections South Africa is recruiting a Financial Controller.

The Financial Controller, will be responsible for providing timely, accurate and reliable financial information to management. The Position will be reporting to the Financial Controller Southern Africa. The position will be based in Morningside Johannesburg.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field, from a recognised local or international tertiary education institution.
  • Accounting experience as a Junior controller in an Industrial Services company or Audit firm
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Ability to analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Excellent command of the English language (written and verbal). Fluency in Portuguese and / French highly preferred
  • Computer Literate (proficiency in Excel)
  • Analytical thinker and strong personality
  • Ability to cope well under pressure
  • Deadline driven and attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills
  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in managing the finance function in a medium-sized company.

Accountability

Financial / Management Accounting
  • Ensure compliance with all the local - country regulations
  • Ensure timely reporting and respect the deadlines of various reports / procedure to be followed as when required by Head office ( Paris ) and Management
  • Ensure monthly / yearly closing are done on time and in an accurate form
  • Scrutinize all financial ratios and KPIs
  • Ensure that the all accounting procedure are followed as per BV rules and regulations
  • Ensure Accounts Receivable are properly managed (Aging, DSO, Cash Collection, Credit Notes, etc.)
  • Ensure all the internal controls / procedures are applied and followed and reporting thereof
  • Monitor cost and control them within budgetary boundaries
  • Provide assistance to Operations Manager in the elaboration of Business Case (profitability review)
  • Budget / Forecast:
  • Plan all necessary tasks to ensure that the Group deadlines are met
  • Ensure consistence and accuracy in budget figures


  • Ensure compliance with Group guidelines.
  • Perform all others duties assigned by Regional Financial Controller.
  • Attend and participate in Finance meetings, as required.
  • Adhere to, and comply with, the Bureau Veritas Core Values, Code of Ethics and 3 Absolutes.

  • Above average computer literacy in MS Office. Excellent MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent financial accounting and numerical skills.
  • Good English language skills, both verbal and written.
