SR. TECHNICIAN (INST)
Primary Purpose of Job
Supervises, directs, co-ordinates and participates in the activities of subordinate technicians in the installation, modification, maintenance and repair of a variety of standard and specialist instrumentation and Control/Plant Safety System including all types of pneumatic, electrical, and electronic computer and instruments, Microprocessor Based Control System (DCS) and /F&G / ESD /and Programmable Logic Controller based Systems, automated on-line processAnalysers, Turbine Control Systems and Compressor Anti Surge Control Systems, computerhardware and alarm systems in workshops and on site. Also personally carries out morecomplex, skilled or diverse work, and performs various administrative duties for the unit, in anyof the NGL 1121314 Plants, AGR ISRU Facilities, NGLIStorage & Loading Areas within
Completion of Secondary (12 years) education, followed by 2 years formal full time training in Instrumentation, Control Engineering or similar, to Ordinary National Diploma level or equivalent, plus relevant short courses in safety and specific manufacturer's systems and maintenance procedures, Diploma in Instrumentation is preferred. Shall have good working knowledge of Computers and computer based Networking Systems. Fair spoken and written English.
Experience & Skills
8-10 years experience in the installation, maintenance, repair and overhaul of a wide variety of pneumatic, electrical and electronic instrumentation and Control/Plant Safety Systems. The maintenance of turbine controls, telemetry equipment, computer hardware DCS/SCADA/F&G/ESD Systems and similar sophisticated equipment and faultfinding on solid state/programmable logic instrumentation system, preferably including a period of formal apprenticeship. Good working Knowledge of the Computers/ Programs/ Networking is essential an required as well as the knowledge of the Process.
