- Under strict supervision, learns the job for the Surface Data Logging (SDL) service line for the purpose of providing on-location geological data collection and reporting to the customer.
- Learns the basics of drilling theory and is oriented into the understanding of mud logging techniques and job duties.
- Assists in the gathering of drilled cuttings by depth intervals.
- Assists in the transportation of these cuttings.
- Assists in keeping records of intervals transported.
- Assists in keeping work area clean.
- Performs assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles.
- Attends and completes induction courses as necessary.
- Completes training appointments as necessary to obtain safety, offshore, or other operations, or customer specific certificates in order to be able to go the designated rig site (s).
- Skills acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering or Geology.
- Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude.
- Must possess good communication skills, arithmetic, data entry and recording skills.
- Must have successfully passed company tests, or met task guideline requirements.
- This is an entry level position into the SDL service line for employees who have no experience in the petroleum, or related industries.
- This is a field position.

By 1946, the company – using its innovative technology – had expanded into Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and the Middle East and began performing services for the Arabian-American Oil Company, the forerunner of Saudi Aramco.
In 1951, Halliburton made its first appearance in Europe as Halliburton Italiana SpA., a wholly owned subsidiary in Italy. In the next seven years, Halliburton launched Halliburton Company Germany GmbH, set up operations in Argentina and established a subsidiary in England.
In 1984, Halliburton provided all of the well completion equipment for the first multiwell platform offshore China. Two years later, Halliburton became the first American company to perform an oilfield service job on the China mainland
The final decade of the 20th century brought more changes and growth to Halliburton. The company opened a branch office in Moscow in 1991.
The company realigned its work into Eastern and Western Hemisphere operations in 2006, and in 2007, divided its service offerings into two divisions: Completion and Production, and Drilling and Evaluation.
