Lead and facilitate the planning and commercialization of new and updated Drilling Services software products, from inception to deployment. Works with product line management to conceptualize and define requirements for new software products and features that provide optimal value to Weatherford. Develops and manages software product backlogs, defining the work to be performed, setting acceptance criteria for completion of the work, and prioritizing the order the work to be performed. Collaborates with DS engineering, operations, and end users to ensure software products are fit-to-purpose and to plan field and production releases of new and updated software products and the software's deployment. Provides direction and guidance to development team members on software functionality, user interface look and feel, behavior, and operation. Works with engineering, product line, operations, documentation, and training to ensure effective rollout of new software.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborates with business unit stakeholder to define and direct software product strategy by gathering input and business needs from product line management, global technical support, operations, and other stakeholders.
Works with software engineering management to define and appropriately prioritize work and initiatives for software architectural and technical improvements or reduction of technical debt for new and existing software
Collaborate with software engineering management to accommodate the needs of software field support and software sustaining engineering for new and upgraded software
Gathers, evaluates, prioritizes, and manages requests for product changes, enhancements, and new features
Leads software requirements development through interviews with product line and engineering stakeholders, collaboration with product designers, and other methods as needed
Creates clear and thorough acceptance criteria to ensure that the development team understands when work is complete
Leads resolution of conflicts between competing product managers or project stakeholders by proposing prioritization of requirements and products for development and commercialization
Participates in software development team and project operational retrospective meetings
Manages software product backlogs using TFS, including;
Creating epic, feature, and user story backlog items
Defining and entering User acceptance criteria for user story backlog items
Prioritizing the order of software features or functionality to be developed
Acts as the primary point of communications to product line management and operations
Represents voice of the customer (product line management and operations) and works closely and consistently with the development team to answer questions and make decisions regarding software design, behavior, functionality, operation, and performance issues that are not specific to technical architecture and implementation
Negotiates with engineering management, product line management, and operations to determine software project priority and product features
Advises management on resource requirements to meet software product delivery goals
Tracks estimated and actual software feature and project development costs
Leads software release planning
Leads product backlog planning
Works with development team on software project feature planning and design
Reviews and approves completion of product backlog items submitted as completed by the development team
Manages software product releases and ensures releases are carried out according to DSSE processes and standards
Develop and publish information on software project and feature development status
Assists Product Line Management with research and analysis of the market, competitors, and software usage trends and keeps abreast of technology and competitor changes in the market
Works with Software QA management to ensure the integrity of and adherence to software QA processes, policies, standards, and practices.
Keeps abreast of new software development technologies, concepts, practices, and trends and evaluates them for potential application to DS software products and operations
Coach and instruct development team members and other DSSE management on product and operational concepts, practices, and technologies.
Work with other product owners, project managers, and functional managers on cross-product-line and/or cross-functional projects and products.
Works with software engineering management to resolve impediments
Tracks project issues to completion, such as outstanding questions, decisions or changes
Negotiates with software engineering management and software development teams regarding the usage of software technologies to achieve technically feasible solutions on a timeframe consistent with market and product requirements and conditions
Liaise with SMEs in product lines and operations to facilitate the creation of software documentation, training materials, new product training, and deployment plans for software commercialization
Works with product line and operations management to effectively communicate new product and product features, value propositions, and roadmaps
Work with software engineering and product line management and Weatherford compliance personnel to ensure that products are in full legal compliance, including export and licensing compliance
Work with operations and software engineering QA management to facilitate software field tests
Maintain communication and contacts to collect and analyze technical, financial, marketing, schedule, and sales information for product line
Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions
Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford

Two or more years of oilfield drilling, MWD, or LWD experience
Ten years of total experience
Ability to travel internationally
Physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations

Software development knowledge, particularly with regards to product owner role in an agile environment
Strong or advanced presentation and speaking skills and knowledge
Strong or advanced knowledge of application lifecycle management
Intermediate or higher knowledge of DevOps or agile software development
Advanced computer usage skills
Intermediate or higher software coding or QA skills
Strong knowledge of oil data acquisition telemetry technologies (e.g. mud pulse telemetry, electro-magnetic telemetry, etc.)
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
Three or more years of supervisory or managerial experience
Two or more years of project management or leadership experience
Software development or management experience
Prior experience as a Product Owner in an agile software development environment
Three or more years experience leading software requirements development
Prior experience with product line management in the drilling, MWD, or LWD segments of oilfield drilling services
